I bet he is tight fisted and the sort of man who would not let her forget it if he helped her out. There can be no other explanation for her turning down his help as I really don't buy the wanting to be independent BS.

She is probably better off without him.
Unless you know Martin Freeman personally, how can you say she's better of without him?

That's quite a stretch to draw that conclusion because you appear to be basing it on what you imagine him to be like.

One thing I will never understand about people who've been in a long term relationship is when they say after the split, 'we're still great friends'.

And yet not 'great' enough to be in a relationship together??

Bizarre.

It's possible to be good friends with your ex, but still find it impossible to live together or have an intimate relationship-because of baggage or whatever...

I am sad to hear that they split up. They always came across as the down to earth sort and Amanda always seems to come across as a nice person on twitter.

I read an interview which explained it on his overseas work schedule- she got used to being on her own and doing stuff within him and him the same doing stuff without her that it was hard to connect back again.

I read that too. I suppose his career took off at the same time as he had quite small children, and he decided to pursue it to the detriment of his family life. When they are in school, you cant really fly them to Australia every few weeks, which means you don't see your partner either. I suppose that's why a lot of showbiz families split up.

They probably just grew apart like many other couples, especially if he spent so much time away from her and the kids - she probably felt like a single parent. But I always wondered why he didnt pay off her debts privately and then she could have paid him back if he wished, going bankrupt was so public and there was a nasty backlash for her. She comes across very nice in her twitter.

More likely tp be the opposite of down to earth if they hire an accountant to sort out how to seek out and navigate the tax loopholes they can exploit.

A pretty rubbish accountant of she went bankrupt due to not paying her tax bill!

Explains his new hairstyle
He's always had 'help' with his hair. Years ago he didn't have so much - http://i.imgur.com/BeUVj.jpg

They made a big deal about not being married when she played silly buggars with her tax bill
I wonder if she will claim to be married in all but name only when it comes to claiming some of Martins money for the kids
