We have all seen the memes with 2016 better a hideous year because of ronnie corbett/prince etc dying but has your 2016 been good or bad?

This has been the worst year if my life. Had my father die and a load of other horrible family things happen. Has anyone any good to share or has it all been rotten ?

I'm not looking for sympathy, just seen a few more "2016 please end menes" and it's just pissing me off.

It was rather meh. Highlight was passing the finish line of the London Marathon. Other than that, it's been pretty boring.

It's been my best year ever. 2014 was horrific and 2015 was a time for recovering from the horrible events and trying to get life back to normal.

At the end of 2015 we were living in Birmingham and while I'd loved it for the first 14 years of my stay there, I'd had enough of city life and wanted to move but every time we got over one hurdle, another one appeared. My husband had been out of work for 6 years after being made redundant - he got told he was 'too well qualified' for every job he applied for. I was having to work on even though it was 4 years past my retirement date because if I'd retired we'd have had to pay the rent out of the money I'd inherited from my dad (in 2014) and that could have meant we wouldn't ever have been able to buy somewhere.

On January 9th, the house purchase that had been dragging on since early September finally completed and by the 20th we moved in. We're in a beautiful flat, in Scarborough and life here is even better than we hoped for. Mr Cat got a job 4 weeks after we moved. I'm happily retired and have the time to pursue interests I didn't have the time for before and have surprised myself at how good my ceramics are - I'll have 2 pieces in an exhibition in mid-January. We can go for walks by the sea whenever we want. We're both much healthier and my insomnia is a thing of the past. We both have an active social life - both as a couple and as individuals. We'd had the dream for years and eventually took the plunge and made it real.

I hope next year is the same for all of you who had a bad 2016.

Similar to the last few except I'm one more year wiser. Another admission to the doctors with depression and excessive alcohol use, job on a knife edge. Been able to deal with it better this time around, less panicking, more head down and pushing through. Couple positives in that my job is expanding, working at more sites, meeting more wonderful people (one in particular) so the year has ended on a high I haven't felt for at least 4. Just hope it can kick on in to 2017 where I don't plan on making any promises I won't keep, but using my extra years wisdom to better myself and sort out any niggles I've carried over.

2016 for me has been fine - nothing spectacular, but fine. 2015 was a horrible year for us with deaths in the family. In 2016 everyone has stayed alive and kicking. Nothing really happened in 2016 though, we just ticked along nicely.

Started awful with breaking my coccyx. Remained fairly average compared to 2015 which was great.

Next year is looking good so far though

It just ticked along nicely. Got made permanent in my job after 2 years of sitting on a temporary contract although I had a few knockbacks when going for promotion. But most of the family still healthy and happy.

Reading your post put a big smile on my face - I'm glad it's all worked out for both of you, how fantastic about your ceramics! Well done

It started well at Midnight on January the first and then rapidly went downhill from there.

It has been a hellish year.

My Dads Brother my Uncle died on Bonfire Night, following a Short Known Battle with Cancer, he may have had it for a year, but nobody knew not even him.

And with many celebrities dying, Brexit and Donald Trump being made president over in America, it has been a bonkers year.

Hoping 2017 will be better.
