I too have AMD. I consider myself extremely lucky to have have been born at a time when this treatment is available.
My aunt and my grandmother both had AMD many years ago when there was nothing that could be done and both went totally blind.
When I was first diagnosed I had a course of three injections a month apart and by the second one my eyesight began to improve.
A month after the third injection my eyes were examined and my sight was back to normal.
I now have an examination every month and if there is any sign of another "leakage" - even though I won't probably have noticed anything - I have a further injection.
I have now had 5 injections altogether in 10 months and my eyesight remains normal. The injections themselves are not nearly as bad as people think.
I am hoping they will use this story line of Dot's to reassure other people with the condition.
