You'd think she would have her strategy worked out for all possibilities by now

Aw, come on. They've only had six months to get to this point.

It's probably taken them this long to work out what hospitality they want for their Brexit cabinet meetings. You know, digestives or ginger nuts, tea or coffee.

A plan would suggest the Government are in full agreement on the way they want to proceed. Does anyone believe that though? It seems even the Tory Party is deeply divided on what to do.

Are you seriously suggesting that our esteemed leaders don't really know what they are doing and are winging it?! Have never heard of the like...

No but I believe that a highly educated and experienced group of pro- Brexit M.Ps together with a highly educated group of experienced senior servants and advisers are putting together a plan.

It is common knowledge that a few Conservatve M.P.s are anti Brexit. So what? They are not in the working group formulating Brexit plans.

You mean they are relying on experts and the Establishment?

Of course they are, that's what the civil service is for. What did you think it was for if not for serving the government?

I don't see anything in that article that changes the 'yes it is true that there is a rumour' status of the initial random-staffer opinion that got magically transmuted into an alleged leak. It's one of those 'one I prepared earlier, add relevant paragraph here' fillers.

Of course, but don't be surprised when the Brexit isn't what you expect.

I thought one of the planks of Brexit was that people had enough of experts. And the EU. And immigration. And immigrants. And foreigners in general. And lefties.

All this arguing for sovereignty and yet when the head of state supposedly asks a question about a matter of state, people think the PM is allowed not to tell her anything.

Oh my.

I think the planks of remain are those who ever try to resist the fact that we voted out and we're moving out.

True, but May has a slender majority and can't afford to lose the support of a large chunk of her own party. And I don't think it's "a few": just before the vote in June, the Tory MPs were reported as split 2:1 in favour of remain.

More of her M.P.s support her than Corbyn's do him. She has a working majority of 17 and with any luck it will be 18 if the Conservatives win Copeland.

She isn't going to lose a chunk of anything.

Civil servants in specific government departments are experts. Why does that surprise you?

Twaddle to your claim about the Queen and May. It was a made up load of codswallop.

Queen VERY worried if she is sanctioning leaks like this. Only other time I remember was her opposition to Thatcher re. South Africa.

Rather strange story, which even if true is now three months old. Given the PM has an audience with the Queen every week she's bound to have given Her Majesty some hint of her thinking by now.

That is your opinion. And it is wrong.

Since it is the serious Times that has published this report, and not one of the useless tabloids, then this news item ought indeed to be taken seriously.

Tbh, it's coming across as a "Let's make it up as we go along" non-strategy.

"hey Queenie, can you keep a secret?"

Well, by the looks of things apparently not, why divulge details on Brexit to the palace? When they can't keep their mouths shut? The palace is like a leaky sieve, and this just shows that the media would have gotten hold of information, that needs to be held back until the talks.

Why not tell the queen?

Well, for one, she is head of state and Theresa May's boss, and has more experience of state affairs in her little finger than May could ever muster.

Every Prime Minister from Churchill all the way through to Cameron, including Thatcher and Blair, has shown her the greatest respect so if there is any shred of truth in the report, May needs to get her act together and tell her what is going on.
