The Queen and Prince Philip's 'heavy colds'
I thought this sounded suspect from the start. Apart from which older people are less likely to get a cold because they have already been subject to a huge variety of germs (that said us ordinary folks haven't been cosseted in the same way
).Next thing they are off to Sandringham by helicopter which is most unusual. Am I being a bit tin foil hat to suspect that there may have been something else going on - like a specific security alert? |

I think the journey in their 90s was likely a bit daunting, with a cold too they probably didn't feel up to it. That's all.

Perhaps but for instance my mother is a couple of years older than the Queen and she still drives herself on short -medium journeys.
NB I wish she would'nt though to be honest. ![]() |

Older people are more vulnerable to the side effects of colds and their immune system is less able to deal with it easily. So the idea that two 90 year olds might be ill enough with a cold to not feel up to travelling is hardly conspiracy worthy. |

It defo sounds like there was a security threat but we won't hear about it if there was.

The colds probably sapped the energy they need to maintain their human form.

It's not as if the Queen or Phillip were going to drive themselves, and certainly not in a Nissan Micra
They have the choice of just about every luxury car made, with a chauffeur and attendants for their every needs I too suspect that there is much more to this than "heavy colds" |

Who knows? Maybe her or Philip are weaker than suggested? A cold in your 90s is not be taken lightly. Let's face it, the Royals have always been very private about illness. They want to portray this image of being fit and healthy right up to they die.

There's already a lengthy thread on this isn't there.
Definitely security issue. I think it's Catholics. They wanted to derail her at Kings Cross by laying rosaries on the track. |

It's a worry when they get too old in our eyes but not in theirs, we eventually took car keys away from my granddad after seeing him driving and nearly having a panic attack in fear. He never did admit he shouldn't drive but it was safer for him and everyone else.
It's actually far cheaper for her to take taxis that have the upkeep of a car too. |

I just feel sorry for the poor Queen having to get out of her sick bed on Christmas day and read out her Christmas Message
That's dedication |

I can't believe people actually sit around the TV for 10 minutes on Christmas day to hear a 90 year old woman's ramblings about God.
Give my Grandma a sherry if you want real entertainment ![]() Strange to some, but very true. |

Believe it or not, there are many millions who would prefer to hear what the Queen, with nearly 65 years of experience and service has to say, than much of the inane shite emanating from the mouths of those much younger.
Strange to some, but very true. If she was going to talk for 10 minutes about her disagreements in meetings with Margaret Thatcher or Tony Blair I would be interested. |

It *could* be something more but it's not outside the realms of possibility that two very old people might not be up to a long journey in the height of winter |
