if her career is in general, or children's, entertainment then fair enough. i wouldn't support her either way but if she can make some money then more power to her.

But as far as a recording artist goes then she needs to fail because she needs to finally understand she isn't as talented of "real" as she likes to think she is.

With 16k-odd streams and a single seemingly in freefall on the itunes chart, it's clear she's failing and failing hard so at least it'll likely spell the end of her rap "career" before it even starts.
Nobody makes money on record sales anyway. It's the corporate bookings where she'll probably do well. If total crap like Jedward can earn £13m for performing at drunk work parties Honey G can probably do the same.

Down to 66 now.

A second single seem unlikely- then again Syco have remained stubbornly oblivious to her lack of popularity thus far, so perhaps they will carry on flogging this horse.

You're more generous than me Jason. I hope she flops hugely and has to drag her deeply unpleasant, deluded ego back into the real world pretty quick.
I've never felt like this before and always wished people well even when they're not to my taste but this one grinds my gears.
She's so unpleasant, rude, arrogant and takes herself so damn seriously. She has absolutely no humility despite being totally useless. And her pathetically purile fake ghetto speak is toe cringingly embarrassing. I don't think I've ever disliked a reality tv contestant as much as this ever and I want her to sink without trace within weeks

What has she done in your opinion to demonstrate her "unpleasant, deluded ego?" I am no fan of hers, but you're being way over the top.

Even if her song flops - and it appear it has? - she might be able to milk the reality tv shows or appear on Loose Women or whatever is on offer. Celebrity Big Brother would be an obvious route to take. I doubt we've seen the last of Honey G!

What about physical sales? How many would it take to get into the top 40 considering streaming is negligible.

There was some people buying it for their kids

Streaming is negligible? Err no it isn't. Sales in the singles charts are around 75% streaming. Download sales are falling dramatically each year. It's physical sales which are negligable on the singles charts. Very few songs are released on CD single these days.

Oh right. It wasn't clear that's what it meant. It made it look like streaming as a whole was negligible.

Of course, this simply means her position on the combined, official chart will be that much worse.

A lot of people are saying CBB etc but what does she have to offer? She has no personality and comes across as cold, humourless and rather unlikeable so I genuinely can't understand what her selling point would be in a reality tv show

If they can manipulate the show to keep her in as long as possible to annoy as many contestants and viewers as possible, they'll think it's worth doing. Much like X-Factor. They kept her in as long as they could for the sake of headlines and ratings, and certain people voted not because they liked her, but because she was the joke act and they wanted to see a totally deluded loser win the whole thing to show the X-Factor up for the farce that it is. Producers wouldn't actually allow that to happen of course, but more votes = more £ for them so it was in their interest to keep it going, until they were good and ready to send her packing.

It kinda sums up music nowadays what a joke, I wish I could live in the 80s and 90s for music.

Well at least I have a mute button and playlists

This might sound stupid, but why are people wishing for Honey G to fail? I wasn't a fan of hers on the show but I still wish her well on pursuing her career.
Because she's a cold opportunist being propped up by cold corporation of opportunists?

Because she offers nothing of cultural value?

Because she's devoid of talent and has no heart or humour to make up for it?

Because she's the most crystallised avatar we have available at the moment of everything that has gone wrong with X Factor and, to some extent, the culture industry itself?

Because her' humorous' persona is either tragically un-self-aware or based on a somewhat condescending and mocking cultural appropriation that can be argued to be at least a little bit obnoxious if not overtly racist.

I mean, I'm pretty indifferent as to whether she does well or whether she bombs. I don't really care either way. My take is that she's a pretty unsophisticated one-note joke that wasn't funny in the first place, let alone for it's fiftieth repetition. But I'm not going to sit here and pretend there isn't a whole myriad of reasons as to why she could be considered legitimately objectionable that are just as valid and probably more so than 'she's just trying to make some money good luck to her lol'

Number 90 on iTunes lol what a flop looks like Simon has lost he's magic touch if he spent as much time and effort into finding real singers instead of fake joke acts he might get a hit single

So many acts this year were thrown under the bus to ensure Honey G stayed out of the bottom 3 for as long as possible, because for some baffling reason Syco thought Honey G was going to be this big star if they could keep her in long enough.

What a flop.

Yep. Not only the acts that got screwed over in the live shows but there were some decent overs this year who got dumped at JH/6CC to make room for that mug.

Cowell wasn't bothered about shafting people over to pimp his chosen joke act so I'm delighted it's backfired on him

This is what makes me so angry. There was a lot of really good singers in the Overs but the judges pandered to this deluded woman. They wasn't interested in her at all until (from what I remember) a tweet from Snoop Doggy who said she was good (was he taking the p***??) and then Simon Cowell and the rest of the judges couldn't get enough of her.
She's a joke and I agree with your previous posts Blondie, she is a very rude person who now thinks she is talented

If you look at this, which appears to be "official", she's number 65.

http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/charts/songs/

although if you look at this apparent "live" iTunes chart update, she's at 100 ..

At the end of the day more people wanted to watch Planet Earth 2 instead of Honey G.

How was Honey G going to succeed? It just further highlights how clueless Simon Cowell is. The days of Robson Green & Jerome Flynn are well and truly over, and for that we should be thankful.

Reality killed the video star. Streaming killed the reality star.

Nice try though Mr Cowell. Maybe if you pushed someone who is an incredible singer next year, you might get that UK #1 hit you're so desperate for. Until then, make do with what you've got.

Maybe, but if you actually check out the no 1 singles for 2016 (there are only 11), which one features an incredible singer? (Maybe Little Mix?)

Most of them feature good singers with fair to very good material. The vast majority are male artists not unlike Matt Terry...certainly no Honey G music but is Cowell that far off?

What a load of tosh. You do realise he's had several number 1s this year right? Why are you calling him a flop - have you achieved better? I bet he's glad he's not taking your advice!

He's had several number 1s this year, but ignorance is bliss for you I guess. What a joke, honestly...
