To be fair....it's 35 on sales. Which isn't a complete shambles, not great but in this post-streaming age things tend to chart low and then peak later although I doubt that will happen with this record.

It did sell 6,000 copies....The streaming for XMas songs was huge last week so it's all overcrowded right now but that is the real picture. She may not have done as well as Jedward debut but it's not a disaster.

However, there will be no album now unless she crowd funds which I think she wil or gets support from a smaller label. Cowell won't even take her calls from today onwards, it really is that simple.

She'll now pursue other avenues for her Honey G brand...I think she'll pop up on a reality show or two for sure. But I did expect it to storm to the Top 10 at least being a XF fan and all.
How is this is not a disaster? She sold 6000 copies, of which 3000 were probably DLed in the first 24 hours. She peaked in her first day and it went down from there.

Rap artists generally have an easier time getting fans to stream. Unfortunately, no one thinks of Honey G as a real rap artist. She's a novelty through and through.

I don't know what Simon's expectations for this song were. But there's no way he thought she wouldn't make T100. Just no way!

Sorry, but with the best will in the world you cannot avoid that it is a disaster. Constant praise, standing ovations, getting to perform on the final (which has never happened before) and all her TV and press coverage to push the song and she sells 6451. That is a disaster. As for crowd funding - if people are not willing to spend 99p on her I doubt there will be much interest in spending £'s on her.

Her mega fans might, we've seen it with quite a few X Factor contestants.

It is a flop though but I think in this day and age, No.35 isn't too bad.

While I think the main issue was that the joke wore thin weeks ago, surely it would have done better released in January or February when the Xmas madness has died down, i wasn't even aware the song had dropped til i saw the 'flop' article!

I don't believe she ever had mega fans. People who voted her did so to keep her in to laugh more at her, just like Speidi in Big Brother or Dr Gillian McKeith in I'm a Celeb.

She may well genuinely be a rapper in her own music but let's face it, she was given comedy and novelty songs week on week in XF 2016 which she talked over in a bit of a monotone. Watch any of her performances without looking at the dancers and it's all a bit pants. The only modern rap song she did was the Mannequin challenge one, and she flubbed the lyrics a few times on that.

And it's a far cry throwing free app votes at her with the tap of a finger to actually parting with money to buy her music, or to go and see her at a gig.

Simon and the judges played it really badly too. She came ready-made as a love-to-hate character, a villain character who Sharon and Louis could have supported while Simon disparaged as the voice of reason, but for whatever reason they chose to pretend like she actually was the second coming and everyone who couldn't see it was wrong.

Jedward made no 2, were genuinely weird, turned up on a reality show or two and in contrast with Honey G were quite funny at times.

Phoney G's song was of absolutely diabolical quality. Simple as. (I've just listened to a bit of it).
And the pretentious lyrics which went along the lines of her being a huge rap artist in the world now were just embarrassing, and it was asking for the sales response that she got.
The DS article says that her deal was for 2 singles. Gawd help us. I imagine the second single will do far worse than the first in the charts.

The Christmas chaos chart period was her best hope of getting a high selling record, as that is traditionally when 'novelty' records do well. Not with this one. It wasn't near the 'it's so bad it's good' quality. More like 'Its's so bad, it's bad.'
Seeing this almost middle aged, middle class, deluded woman trying to (very badly) do rap has been totally cringeworthy.
She may eke out a few reality TV show appearances in the next 12 months while the public still remember her but then she will probably disappear into the horizon never to be heard of again.

Where can they go with a second single ?

Her whole 'party piece', if you will, was the generic call-and-response approach and this has failed.

They can't go with a more 'serious' rap because she can't rap.

I guess if this story about Snoop Dogg wanting to work with her is true, they'll have to try and make that happen because the sheer weirdness and novelty value alone might drag it up the charts.

This did tickle me in the article though .. "the genuine urban artist" . Miaow !.

"Snoop phoned Sharon's daughter Kelly and said he wanted to work with me, but I don't think he's been in contact with my management yet," the genuine urban artist continued.

It was rubbish, she trys and credit to her for that but at the end of the day Honey g should not have even been sent through to the live shows.

The fact she was sent through over other acts that were much better and deserved more of a chance is a total joke.

To then be given a record contract or a one record deal is just madness, it makes a mockery over the whole thing.

She shouldn't have got past the first audition, let alone made the live shows. A few years back, that big bald bouncer would have been called in to escort her from the building.

I really don't get Cowells mindset on this. The fake standing ovations and gushing praise from the judges over what was basically an unfunny joke made no sense. They didn't treat her like the novelty act, they treated her like they'd just discovered the next big thing and the future of UK music.
I know Cowell believes he can fool the public but the rest of us could all see a chunky bird wearing Jimmy Savilles old wardrobe shouting her name out tunelessly and this time no one was fooled - apart from the 6000 deaf people who downloaded her appalling nursery rhyme

Maybe a duet with Fleur East as her next single?

I think Fleur would rather re-release Sax everyday for the rest of her life then work with Honey G. Fleur at her absolute worst is stratospheres better than phoney g. But then, what Simon says goes I suppose...

Sadly, I doubt this is the end of Honey G...

A disaster waiting to happen and a rightful flop. She was one of the reasons this year's X Factor was the disaster it was.

Comparing Fleur and honey g this forum is so pathetic

Fleur has over 3 octaves honey g doesn't have one they will not be paired up together because honey g will be dropped in January it was one single deal only and it flopped

Oh lighten up Eva - it was part of a long running joke. You should know better than fall for the bait.

The public have already tried to tell Cowell repeatedly that they don't like Honey G. He won't have it though. Other Syco acts will probably have their budget cut to peanuts so he can carry on trying to ram her down our throats.

A TV career won't work for Honey G as she has the personality of a dead fish. No sense of humour. nothing interesting to say and an apparent inability to socialise or network.

Absolutely. Surely no one took that as a serious suggestion did they? This place never ceases to amaze me if anyone took that as anything other than a joke

To be fair, Eva does have a point. They are miles apart. Honey G at least has a genre and a musical identity even if it is just dated deludo-rap...

Her inability to empathise or communicate makes me wonder if she has Aspergers? If she hasn't I assume she is just ignorant, rude and arrogant

Well how many times have seen her real personality? We've only really seen her play the comedy role on the show.
