Have you had any particularly crap experiences at Christmas? Crap presents? Crap meals? Crap company? Crap news? Anything that should have been crap that somehow turned into something less crap? Share your crappy Christmas stories.

The worst thing that ever happened to me was on Christmas. Oh, God. It was so horrible. It was Christmas Eve. I was 9 years old. Me and Mom were decorating the tree, waiting for Dad to come home from work. A couple hours went by. Dad wasn't home. So Mom called the office. No answer. Christmas Day came and went, and still nothing. So the police began a search. Four or five days went by. Neither one of us could eat or sleep. Everything was falling apart. It was snowing outside. The house was freezing, so I went to try to light up the fire. That's when I noticed the smell. The firemen came and broke through the chimney top. And me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird. And instead they pulled out my father. He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit. He'd been climbing down the chimney... his arms loaded with presents. He was gonna surprise us. He slipped and broke his neck. He died instantly. And that's how I found out there was no Santa Claus.

It might have something to do with the time of the year. Perhaps you could make a thread called 'Crappy All Year'. Just a thought. I have them occasionally. They are rarely worth sharing. Not very Christmas of me, I know, but you should be able to appreciate such things.

I've had my first Christmas day off and been shopping ect wasn't that bad home now with a Baileys but, 2yrs ago.

In Bromley shopping 4days before Christmas, an old guy dressed as Santa was staggering around and people were laughing thought he was drunk. I got closer and his mouth appeared to have dropped one side. I recognised the signs of a stroke and called 999. Spent 20mins by his side waiting for the ambulance. Then they took him off, got a card after christmas that the police dropped off (had to give them my details). I was excited expected it to be a thank you sort of thing. No, ranted that I had ruined his life he didn't want to live after his stroke and he hoped i died. Now if someone had a stroke a week or so before they're not usually up to writing cards.

I thought it might have been a nasty hoax so rang the police station, spoke to the guy who dropped it off, no it came directly from him. He dictated it to his wife apparently, the policeman had no idea what was in it and felt terrible for dropping it off.

But why do you let yourself get put down at a certain time of the year?

You seem to be trying too hard to twist the thread. There's always at least one.

It's rubbed into our noses that it is a time for family, to be with a loved one, friends etc. Constant bombardment of that when you are alone can be hard to take. If you also don't have family and freinds to be with, or are single and lonely it's worse. Have a heart and stop being a Grinch.

Love the new smileys

Christmas can only be crappy if you are alone and lonely on Christmas. If you are surrounded by people who you you love, it can't be crappy.

* you were the one who raised the question within this thread, not me. So if you won't want people replying, don't post.

Be as down on people as you like, if you must (and it seems you really must). It won't bother me from either my baileys or smileys infact it will just spur me on. Have some more.

I once had a wonderful Xmas on my own. Had a spectacular fry up for lunch and listened to music of my choice. Total serenity!

I don't mind people replying but you didn't really add anything.

Says the poster who tried to take the thread off topic. I suggest you try reading the rest of the thread apart from your own posts. I've posted mine.
