That's a heck of a story!
It's from Star Trek.
No it's from Gremlins

A Christmas back in the 1970's, around about 1975. I was a very young boy but still remember it well. The family, me, brother, mum and dad were travelling down the M1 to my grandparents for a Christmas visit when two Alsatians on the loose came onto the carriageway and straight into the path of our car. My dad had no choice but to run them both down at high speed. Both were killed. We then had to pull up on the hard shoulder. I recall seeing them lying there out the back window, lifeless. Stupid dogs and even more stupid owners!

This year I chose of my own free will to spend a Christmas alone while all the family spent it away. Far more relaxing I thought and in some ways it was but too much so. I had a very late night on Christmas Eve not going to bed until 4am. Next thing I know I awake and get up to look out the window and see lots of house lights on. Look at my watch which says 6.14. I think to myself that I'm sure I've slept longer than a couple of hours and that I'd expected it to be at least 7.30am, so I looked at my phone which said the same time, and then notice it says 6.14pm! Certain this was a mistake I fiddled with it before looking for another clock which said the same time. It wasn't 6.14am but 6.14pm and I had been asleep for an almighty 14 hours and slept through the entire Christmas Day and not seen any daylight with it. With the house being empty and it quiet outside and about there was nothing to disturb me. I was deeply shocked as I never do such things.

It made me feel a kind of jet lag. I forced myself to make a late Christmas dinner which I sat alone with at 11pm, not the greatest fun. I could have left it I suppose but felt compelled to do so. It was only a turkey crown anyway so was quick to cook up. A really rubbish Christmas Day, but Boxing Day was far better at least.
