This is a new one on me. I got this e mail today:

Hi there

My name is Jean Rafon, I'm from France.
Last week i Bought an old book from street here in Paris and i found your email inside of it, i'm curious to know if this is a real person, and what relate you with this book!
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Thanks Jean

There are no links to click, nothing other than a request to reply. Anyone come across this before and if it is some sort of scam how does it work?

I would never even OPEN an email from a stranger with that heading. The days are gone where you have to click on a link to get infected.

Thanks for finding that. I did google, but only put "I Found Your E Mail" and couldn't see anything.

Now deleted.

The name from the sender said Jean, and I have a friend called Jean so I thought it was from her. Will be more careful in future.

Indeed, you cannot be too careful. Maybe I was lucky with my search because I used the name. Of course, in France, Jean is a male name.

I'm pretty sure that when I first came across my Dad's copy of Jean-Michel Jarre's "Oxygene" (and was fascinated by the cover), I thought it was the woman's name "Jean" (i.e. rhyming with "bean").

'Course, since I probably would still have been six at the time and didn't know anything about French names, I could probably be forgiven.

What's weird is that there's a picture of him- and it's quite obviously a *him*- on the back, yet I don't recall any incongruity in that.

So the Ukranian girl who's seen my Facebook page and thinks I'm sexy and wants to bang my brains out is likely to be scamming me?
I don't actually have a Facebook page but she does sound very sincere.
Do you think I could get infected?

Only if you let her handle your small change.

Her name is Ivanka - there's a certain appeal.
