I watched it on Boxing day and was fairly underwhelmed by it.

Spoiler
It's never explained in the script, either.

The film was okay. Not terrible, not that good. Entertaining at times, but on the whole, forgettable.

I prefer the script, I think. The outcome is much darker than the one in the film. Here's the final climax from the script:

The weird conclusion of Aurora and Jim's dispute from the script:

I watched this over Christmas too, underwhelming, but I expected it to be having read some reviews of the film before hand.

Can anyone explain the birds to me at the end? Unless I'm mistaken, the ship was carrying people, not animals. How did the birds get on board? And what Tree grows that much in 90 years?

There are all kinds of plot holes in the film, including the fact that there’s only one medical bio-bed for a ship containing 5,258 people.
Whilst your analysis is a good one, that pod, to me, looked like it could have easily contained two people.

I suppose you could put yourself in his shoes and ask the same question?

Love how posters "review" it without seeing it. Well I loved it. Don't over think it. It's a love story set on a space ship. But I couldnt take my eyes off the screen and never once looked at the time, which I did 3 or 4 times in Rouge One. 8/10
I liked it too and am quite surprised at all the negative reviews on here and elsewhere. Yes there were a few plot holes and conveniences (the Fishburne character in particular) but I found it was possible to overlook these and enjoy what was a fascinating idea. It reminded me a bit of Castaway, Gravity and the Martian with a romantic angle. I quite enjoyed the small comic touches too like the frustration of trying to get a meaningful answer out of the automated machines, as anyone who's ever tried to phone their bank will appreciate!

That was the whole crux of the plot though. I wasn't expecting it from the brief trailers I'd seen and this made it much more interesting IMO than it would have been if they'd both woken up together in the same way.

I really wish the movie had been a thriller. It could've been really good.

AS a family of 4 with 2 university sons who saw it yesterday we all enjoyed it and were chatting about aspects of it in Pizza hut afterwards,
