There,s been a surge in consumers buying Christmas dinners for their pets.

Will your pet be enjoying a Christmas dinner this year?

If so, what will be on the menu

The RSPCA revealed that 68% of cat owners & 8 out of 10 dog owners, will also be buying their pet a Christmas present too.

I'll throw the turkey carcass onto the lawn and let the neighbourhood cats fight over it.

Yep. She gets a little of what we're having but less veg because it makes her bum stink.

She has her own Xmas stocking (that she gets her head stuck in every year) but there's very little in it this year because she found my shopping bags and found her presents in November...The skitter.

We can't take her to my folks this year because of issues with one of Mum's dogs and I'm not looking forward to leaving her but it's only for a couple of hours and she'll know no different. I'll leave her with a frozen peanut butter and turkey Kong and she'll be grand. She'll get her Xmas dinner when we get home.

My parrot will be having a boiled egg, a little potato, followed by a mango & clementine & nuts

He has a wrapping paper, cardboard roll to shred to get to some of his treats.

It's been a few years since my mum ran Christmas and the house was full of cats (and family members), but she always reserved some of the turkey for them, and they were pretty much hysterical during our traditional Christmas morning kipper breakfast. They'd run about like loons, often knocking over the Christmas tree, and end up either quarantined or banished outside (if it wasn't too bad out) while mum was preparing Christmas lunch.

At least one year one or more of the cats managed to get to the turkey after sneaking back into the kitchen.

Now my sister and her husband have taken over doing the family Christmas, and those pets are long gone. It's a much calmer affair, and my sister (though I'd never tell my mum this, and you'd not believe it either if you'd received one of my mum's critiques of Christmas lunch after you'd taken her home afterwards) is a much better cook.

My cat will get a little christmas dinner, and I have loads of treats for her, the snakes won't get anything extra as its not their feeding day, and nothing I can really get different for them anyway.

Funny story about the kippers

My parrot imitates the noises people make while eating & throws his seeds out of the cage, begging for some of whatever anyone is eating at the time. If ignored he then starts singing or saying "come on" then saying everyones names !
Pets can be so funny.

The cats will be having Turkey scraps plus I bought them some Dreamies as a Christmas present. They've also got a cat stocking each and I'll probably buy some little toys for them asl well. They were also going to have a new scratching post, but that's no longer in my budget.

One of my friends at school invited me around for dinner with his family once. Their pet parrot used to say racist things in response to his older brother's prompts. They found it very amusing. I didn't. First and last meal with them. Apparently they'd trained it to respond with racist slurs if anyone non-white came to the house. This was the late 70's/early 80's, so I guess back then they thought they could get away with this. I did feel sorry for the poor bird though.

We went to a very racially mixed school, so I decided for his sake to keep my experience to myself. He was already a subject of frequent bullying as it was, and I could just see that he'd had this terrible racist attitude drummed into him by his parents, in the same way some parents force religion on their kids.

My dog will get some turkey scraps, and some veg, maybe sprouts and a bit of cauliflower. Maybe even a couple of roast parsnips if there's any left - all mixed up with some of his kibble and a bit of gravy.

Then the rest of us will spend Christmas night waving our arms around and saying, "Phoar..that fkucking dog!"

The last line sounds just like in our house...at least once a week
The poor dog gets the blame even when it wasn't her.

Not just cats. Foxes, badgers, hedgehogs. You should video it and send it the BBC entitled, "Turkey Rumble".

Our dog prefers a bit of meat and only eats his own food as a last resort

THis is our rescue cat's first Christmas with us and he was a stray for at least 2 years before we adopted him so he's being spoiled rotten.

He'll be having a cat Christmas dinner from the local pet shop for his first meal then sharing some of our meal at dinner time. He's got 2 multi-packs of Dreamies, a stocking with catnip nibbles and several new toys to completely ignore and play with a piece of screwed up paper instead. (Actually that's not entirely accurate - he plays with the bell he stole off the Christmas tree. Constantly and noisily but I don't want to take it off him because he seems to be only now learning to play!)
