My dog always gets leftovers when there are any, so she really lucks in over Christmas. She's quite the gourmet and loves spicy, garlicky food. They never seem to upset her stomach or even make her farty (she's the least flatulent dog I've ever known).
A few Christmases ago, she tucked in to leftover turkey, leek and gammon pie, plus veg, and seemed very unwell afterwards. She just lay on her side under an armchair for hours on end, barely moving. As she was a lively young dog at the time, this was most alarming and when it had gone on for 4 or 5 hours, I was so worried I took her to the vet. After a thorough examination, he pronounced that he thought she'd overeaten. That bit of news cost me £70. ![]() Since then, she only gets small portions. |

My parents do a stocking for our dogs. I wish they wouldn't to be honest as one of my dogs has stomach problems and has to have a limited diet. My parents know, but there is no stopping them. A lot of the treats go in the pet food donations bins in the supermarket.
I let them have a little left over Turkey and vegetables. But they get spoilt in other ways with lots of toys wrapped under the tree (they love unwrapping them) and they have a new bed too. |

I almost bought my Yorkie one of those special Xmas Turkey dinners that Cesar have out this year but he is so fickle he probably wouldn't eat it so as usual he will get some turkey
![]() This year I've also bought him a present as last year he went in the huff for being left out, seriously ![]()

My collie is restricted in what she can eat due to her health so I cook a lot. of her food. Sometimes I do the same for the two of us - I just add seasoning to my portion. She has already had some beef stew today done in the slow cooker overnight.
Tomorrow she will have some of my chicken plus rice and veggies.
