Just recognised it. Cos I'm old, probably. Although it took me a few seconds to sing it through in my head to remember what it was

Yes, it's the slow part from the middle of the song where there is a change of tempo.

Thats Elvis. The only other well known version by an American was Dwight Yoakham, its not him

I don't think its Elvis, sounds more like Michael Bolton to me but I know it isn't.

sounds like the motown cover which might have been smokey robinson [from memory] but i`m struggling a bit to pull it out of the other noises.

What? Its Elvis singing, no denying it. Smokey never covered it. Here are the covers, no one there even comes close to sounding like thta snippet other than Elvis

i would have to go trawl through my vinyl to find the cover i`m thinking of, i did say it was from memory and i can`t hear it very well because it`s too noisy over the top.
