I enjoyed this. Come to that, I enjoyed Len as a judge.
I did think that Anton was given a fair bit of exposure during the programme...hmmm

I thought it was good especially as two of my favourite celebs were in it - Jay and Mark Benton.

I think Anton was probably on a lot because hes had a lot of c**p dancers.

I loved this show but I'm getting his DVD for Christmas, I wonder how much of the content in that 1 hr documentary will appear in the DVD?

I also enjoyed the show, but thought it was a tad long.

Nice to see crew and cast interacting behind the scenes.

It was a good show and those of us who know or who have known Len personally, will vouch for its authenticity. What- you-see- is-what- you-get with Len; he's upfront and honest. He never 'puts on an act' for the camera, nor ever tries to pretend to be other than what he is - a real Eastender. {Maybe some people on these threads would have preferred him if he did?}

Merry Christmas everyone, lots of

As far as I understand, that DVD is mostly dances that have featured in the various series, and was produced quite sometime before that documentary.

Len and Anton are good mates, Anton was the only Strictly celeb at Len's wedding. If Len has any input Anton is a shoo-in for his old job.

I still think of Len as a chancer, to his credit he admitted he was lucky and even said he was rubbish in Blackpool in 1969. And I thought his throwaway line 'I've taught world champions' was hurriedly skipped over without any explanation.

Funny to think he's retiring from his sit down job 1 day a week when you think how long Brucie soldiered on for.

He isn't an East Ender! He was born in Bromley, Kent, which is where Danny Mac was born!

I enjoyed it, and it was great to hear from some of the pros as well as the celebs, though I did think Brendan was talking rubbish half the time...

Also enjoyed location spotting for where they filmed the interviews - including Ore and Kevin in a ballroom where I often dance!

The redtops have their experts with stopwatches in hand poring over every frame as we speak.

I expected to fast forward bits of it but it was sprinkled with enough interesting stuff, and most of those involved Len.

A bit too much footage and examples from recent Series IMO as I thought there were better examples to illustrate things, but I guess there is a practical reason as people have short memories, or didn't see it in the first place.

The main thing was that it came across as Len being himself, which is the way I like him.

I preferred Len when he was more focused on technique and the dances being done correctly. Nowadays he apparently can cover a whole range of dances with very few (high) numbers and it seems everything has to be better than last year (like washing powder).

He used to be my go-to-guy and now I rate Craig as more consistent - I'm sad to say that. Len has been a major part of the success of Strictly and has always been the judge whose opinion counts the most. He will be extremely hard to equal or better.

I remember him a year or two back, seemingly struggling to scrape another superlative from the bottom of the barrel, and thought he looked uncomfortable. He really suited the Show for many Series, but the Show changed and has gone away from some of what suited Len, so his abilities have been devalued.

I wish him well.

And keeping his BBC radio and tv work. He likes to use the word 'retiring' referring to Strictly.

Sorry but you are wrong. Len is an Eastender, he was born in Bethnal Green.

I enjoyed it but would love a full on documentary detailing his pre Strictly life and career.

Len has written a book or books about his life. They are a very interesting and humerous read about where he grew up, his family life, how he got into dancing, his competitive career, right up to Strictly. I don't know Len personally but I know a few that do, and they all say he is a lovely guy, very down to earth with no airs and graces.

Yes, that would've been interesting and relevant though some of his background did come out in the 'Who do you think you are' about him.

I really enjoy his radio programmes.. playing music he likes, and saying why he likes it...the antidote to slick presenters!

Thanks for that, Jennifer_F, I shall go look his books up on Amazon.
