If you really want to know the ins and outs I'll pm you - we're way off topic here!
Suffice to say that to find a birth registered a few miles down the road from where the birth actually took place is not in the least bit unusual. Trust me - I've researched more ancestors than I've had hot dinners! ![]()

I'm sure it is easy, but I'm not bothered at all whether the information on there is correct or not. I thought that it was common knowledge that Wiki was not always factually correct ? I'm only voicing what others say...or have said....
Have a great Christmas and New Year , I'm just about to open the bubbly ![]() I can get snitty when people criticise Wikipedia. I don't do much there myself but do try to improve it every now and again if I'm at a loose end, expanding stubs and rewriting articles for the Simple English version so kids can use them. But thousands upon thousands of men and women give endless hours of free time to create a really valuable resource which millions of people consume happily but equally happily denigrate because every single one of its trillions of words isn't perfect. Makes me go curmudgeonly that people take from it, never give to it, but still feel free to criticise it. Sorry though - not you particularly. My own bugbear is all. Enjoy the bubbly! PS: Just for all Len fans. I got someone to correct it. It now says "Goodman was born in Bethnal Green, London. His birth was registered in Bromley, Kent". Unless another editor objects, it will stay like that. |

I used to upload quite a lot including photographs but stopped because you lose all control over the images (even though you are supposed to retain copyright) and they can be altered by people without your permission. I had a few very rare ones I was going to add to some pages when I gave up so no image of the items has ever appeared. |

This was an enjoyable show, though I forgot it was actually about Len and not just a behind the scenes look at Strictly.
Was funny to see the judges table so small in series 1. Len was right about how when a couple is good you naturally look for something bad to critique. He also gushed a lot about Jay's jive. Another reason to poke fun at the conspiracy theories that they were so against Jay winning. Len's clearly a big fan. |

Somewhat off topic, but I enjoyed seeing Tess being relaxed and enthusiastic talking about Len and her relationship with Claudia - she gets so much stick on here for being 'wooden' when all she is doing on the show is sticking to her remit and keeping things moving along.
I know it's not a majority view on here, but I like her As others have said, the behind the scenes glimpses were interesting - I'd like to see a whole show dedicated to filming behind the scenes in say, next year's series, but I suppose the extra cameras would get in the way too much. |

Wikipedia is known for not being correct. Len was born in Bethnal Green, and it states so on his own website.
http://www.lengoodman.co.uk/ Len Goodman is a TV and Radio presenter. He was born in Bromley Kent, the son of Leonard Gordon Goodman |

His birth was registered in Bromley but he spent his younger years in Bethnal Green which it did say on his Who Do You think You Are and says about Bromley on his website
http://www.lengoodman.co.uk/ Len Goodman is a TV and Radio presenter. He was born in Bromley Kent, the son of Leonard Gordon Goodman The original poster of this info does know Len and said he from the eastend, so that's good enough for me. My Mothers partner, also a dance teacher from the Eastend ( who used to teach Gary Edwards , one of the names discussed for the new judges position) does know Len, so I will try and remember to ask/confirm when I next call them.

I enjoyed the show and as others have said, it was nice to see behind the scenes and seeing everyone relaxed. I didn't quite agree with his comment that if there were 4 judges like him, ie 4 from the BB/LA danceworld, all the critique would be the same, as if you look at the marks from even top International competitions, top judges can have a difference of opinion and will mark 1 couple 6th and another judge will have them 1st.
However I understand why he said that, and I do actually like the mix we have generally. |

Very confusing... but .if you click into the Goodman Dance Academy is says different, ie born in Bethnel Green. I don't know why I'm bothering to labour the point when I'm not the one that said it in the first place

The programme traces Len and his family tree and it goes back 150 years, starting as a weavers then generations of bricklayers on his farther's side. They lived and died in East London and were housed in the poorest street in Bethnel Green. On the programme Len discovers his mothers Polish origins as well. Len mentions in the programme that his mum and dad split up when he was young. It's a good watch and I found it interesting when aired first time on the Beeb. The One Show did a special showing the house where Len lived and grew up in Bexleyheath, Blackfen a few years ago. |

Except it doesn't, it says 'Bethnall Green', which is naturally a red link, and implies that Bromley is still in Kent when it has been in London since 1965.

As lundavra notes, there was/has been a general agreement to use historic counties among UK Wikipedia editors. I'm originally from Middlesex and/or a London Borough but have always referred to myself as a Londoner. So I've seen this discussion on there before. As before, if you disagree, you can change it yourself, have the discussion, and see what the end consensus is. Otherwise, happy to follow convention. |
