HMRC Tax Refund?
I have received a email from the HMRC saying that I am due a tax refund, this is the first time I have heard of t. I'm on ESA, and i know that has been taxed from this year, according to the email.
It is asking for my account details, so the money can be put in my account. The other week, I clicked on a spam email, which luckily I was able to cancel my card before any harm was done. Has anybody else had Tax Refund told to them via an email, Am i safe to reply to them or isn't it worth it |

It's a phishing attempt
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will never use texts or emails to: tell you about a tax rebate or penalty ask for personal or payment information Check HMRC’s guidance on recognising scams if you’re not sure. See https://www.gov.uk/report-suspicious...sites-phishing |

They would always put such notices in writing.

HMRC would never ask for your account details by an email.
We had one of these a couple of years ago, after checking, it was a scam. |

No different to "pest" emails that ask you to reply or unsubscribe by clicking "here" which is the last thing you should do. You can filter them all to junk. When the email is opened if you actually click on the sender's name i.e HMRC it reveals the true sender and you'll see it's a garbage address. |

Simple rule of thumb.
No legitimate organisation or company will ever contain a link directly to a login page or ask you to verify login details. Easy. Scam. |

I've had a few from HMRC. Stopped reading after telling me to contact them by February 31st.

You've evidenced, through your above detailed lifestyle choices, that you have a sub-prime mental capacity to identify deception. You're undoubtedly now on a "suckers list", and using the details they already have and any that you chose to supply to the scammers they will be endeavouring to capture your attention. Best thing to do is to dump that email address and migrate trusted organisations to the new one. |
