What about cyclists who smoke, they didn't get a mention?

Thank you, this has happened to my twice at least that he knows of, and once to me, but all three times the riders were not smoking but just careless.
The time it happened to me, I was waiting to join a roundabout, and started to enter this, then down this hilly road shot a push bike rider going fast, no lights, I braked, stopped almost on the spot, he lightly hit the front bumper of the car, quickly told me to "f off you f ing C watch where you are going, hand signs and rode off." the rider had no lights at it was very dark, no hi vis wear/etc - this is common occurrence
Yeah, that happened.

Haha! I think so yes

ETA: How many threads have you walked into this weekend carrying a fag and flicking it at people?
I took up smoking especially for this festive season's genre threads
I assumed they were special smoking areas

Crazy, isn't it? Every day you see cyclists riding with one hand because they're holding a fag with the other. And if they end up damaging someone's vehicle or, worse yet, hurting someone, you can bet they'll probably scarper, puffing away like a chimney as they ride off, laughing.
Thank you, this has happened to my twice at least that he knows of, and once to me, but all three times the riders were not smoking but just careless.

I take it that you're supposed to be some sort of comedy persona, but I'll talk to you like a real person just in case.

In case it escaped your attention my previous post was heavy on the sarcasm. The thing is, Princessxxxx, cyclists don't smoke. Well, some of them might smoke but certainly not while cycling. So when you say that this happed to your [Daddy] twice at least, and to you once, the truth is that it never actually happened.

Also, and I know that you're making this up so I don't know why I'm saying this, "he lightly hit the front bumper of the car" can only mean one thing, that you drove into him. I can't help laughing at your post but when I consider the slim chance that you're a real person it's frightening that you managed to get a license.

12: Very arrogant/abusive, limited vocabulary.
I live in London/Blackheath in a nice-sih part of it...
There's a fine line between "limited" and "incorrect".

So many typos from The Princess. One of the hazards of smoking and typing I suppose.

She's done smokers already. I reckon it'll be people who buy discounted shit in supermarkets next. Or Muslims.
Muslims that smoke should not be allowed to buy discounted bicycle parts in the pound shops. Does that cover all the bases?

The original post by the original poster is absolutely correct. I say this as a responsible cyclist.

Insurance, the best that there is, is provided especially to cyclists and to all road users by:

https://www.eta.co.uk/

The insurance can be set up entirely online, and is quick and easy to do. Making a claim is also quick and easy to carry out. From memory, I pay £30 a year.

Any cyclist who doesn't have insurance is a total fool.

I absolutely agree about cyclists who ride on the pavements, and who carry too many items so that the cycle is unbalanced or they are not in control of the cycle. That's why I have a wire cage on the rear luggage carrier of my cycle, which carries two carrier bags of shopping. It cost £12. For heavier loads up to 50 kilogrammes, I have a trailer which is the same width as the handlebars of the cycle. It cost £120, is now three years old and has successfully made hundreds of trips.

If there is a tax for cyclists then fine. Number plates - fine - will help with cycle thefts.

The original poster, in her list, forgot protective clothing. Every cyclist should wear high-visibility protective clothing and a helmet. We all know, after seeing the TED talk about concussion in rugby players, boxers, and cyclists, that helmets don't currently protect against concussion - but the safety organisations are working on it. Helmets do protect against skull fractures. Four years ago, I was thrown from my cycle when going over ice. My head hit the road, and my jaw slammed shut, causing me to lose a tooth. Without the helmet, I would have been dead.

So everything that the original poster is absolutely correct. As more people give up motor vehicles and turn to cycles, then there needs to be good enforcement - and extension to - sensible rules.

One last observation. In the eyes of the police, a cycle is a road vehicle. It is not a toy, or exempt from traffic rules. The cycle has to be used properly in respect to the rules of the road.
