Smoked salmon starters and pavlova for pudding ?

Who could imagine such sophisticated gastronomic luxury for only £30 a pop...

The Double Ticket Rule also seems overly rapacious.

Why cannot the Mother take daughter/sister as guest/partner, or vice-versa?

Are Double Tickets only for Married or Romantically linked couples? Must they be heterosexual too?

Atheists should be giving their Christmas dinner to Christian homeless people because they have no right to eat it.

Thank God you will not be at our table.

I can understand asking for a contribution if the hosting duties have become expected of you and you have other financial priorities or simply don't want to do it, but I wouldn't dream of making a profit from it. £10 a head would be enough. She claims to love being the host, but I think we know what it is she really loves about it (£££).

The icing on the cake in that article is that she says she basically has to be the host because she refuses to drive on Christmas Day (which is sort of understandable) so it's impossible to visit her relatives. So not only does she make everyone else drive on Christmas Day, but she asks for £60 a head for the meal. Plus they have to bring their own booze!

I'm not sure who's worse; her for being a Grinch or her guests (customers) for giving in to her extortion. As soon as they make a stand and refuse to pay, she'll get over her reluctance to drive on Christmas Day.

uck. Who knows why such a thing started in their family? Who cares?”

It's a Tory thing. Everything has a price.

It's such a shame that the story didn't end with her family choosing to spend the day at somebody else's house

Many people celebrate a secular Christmas or festive season as such , atheists and people of other religions have decs and presents and a meal and see it is a family time , why should they not have dinner ?

I'd be so tempted to send an email to the Family with a counter-invitation for a freebie or minimal cost beanfeast.

Trouble is, that would be passive-aggressive shit and family is family, in spite of some of them being idiots.

I'd probably give them another chance and put the boot in if they didn't buck their ideas up next year.
