Christmas special of BOAF is on tonight at 8pm.

Really looking forward to this. I saw a clip on Weekend At Christmas and it looked promising. Reviews of it look good, so hopefully won't dissapoint like most Christmas specials of recent comedies.

It wasn't very good and i normally love Birds. Much better in the Chigwell setting. Worth it to see Martin Kemp though, he is gorgeous.

I didn't think it was great. It was very like an old fashioned Xmas special switch a contrived way of getting the cast on holiday.
Travis is gorgeous

I thought it was great. Saved it for Christmas Day and watched it as the main Christmas night comedy treat. Yes it was daft nonsense and far fetched but it was a fun watch. Much better than dreary midwives!

I love the series but I think the Christmas special was not very good and a bit too silly for the series.

What were the ratings? Did it get higher than 5 or 6 million?

I enjoyed this. It was gentle, light-hearted and amusing - and I am still laughing about Dorien's Lawrence of Arabia moment. BOAF never claimed to be ground-breaking or innovative, but it's certainly funnier than some other so-called comedies on the box.

No it only got 3.5m. It was against EastEnders which itself got 5.7m and Corrie 4.4m

Birds has never been my cup of tea, I love the actresses but the humour in this has just never felt very funny to me but my husband loves the show and really enjoyed the Christmas special. So I'd say it was pretty good he doesn't watch much tv these days so anything he does like is fine by me.

I agree with this - I really enjoyed it. I liked seeing them all in a different setting. Agree that Martin Kemp is gorgeous too! I really hope they make another series.

Wow, that was so funny, unlike many so called comedies nowadays.

Yes ... just caught up with this and it was nice to watch something undemanding, jolly and with a few daft but genuinely funny moments. Plus Martin Kemp of course ....

Not impressed. To be honest the quality hasn't been decent since the bbc days. Very poor shallow unfunny writing, which is a shame as I do like the cast.

I can usually tolerate BOAF and usually lol quite a few times throughout each episode.

But this special was totally scraping the barrel! I felt it was going on a journey to justify a really funny punchline at the end - but alas NO! I sat through it all and it was rather tough viewing.

Must try harder!
