Anything less than the high standards The X Factor seems to have set itself, apparently. The kind of sales that barely anything will manage nowadays, not even highly promoted charity records.

If they're being realistic then I imagine anything that place top ten could be considered enough of a success to build upon. Who knows what they expect, though?

If this show actually had a Rock winner it would do better as they're normally one of the most talented, and one of the strongest performers in any given XF lineup.

And this show needs to explore what's in nowadays which is Dance Music.

None of them would have got to no. 1... nobody cares about this show or the winners anymore.
Matt is very talented and he deserves success on his next album, hope he does well with his own single.
He won the show because he was the most popular. Get over it.
With the particular song that Matt won with, I'd say that Ryan would've got a top 5 finish out of it as it suits his voice more.

The problem with Matt and I said it throughout the lives, is that you compare him to everybody else in the competition he just doesn't have any appeal away from his looks, vocally he was bested by a few of them, performing wise he was probably in the bottom three, and he has no genre to have a ready built fanbase ready to buy his Music.

The show needs to make it's winners more appealing to some of the Music buyers who are like me and want to listen to some good Music and not someone that hits one range in every song to disguise an average vocal which has happened with Matt and Louisa back to back now.

This year should've been between Sam, Saara, Gifty, Relley, and Freddy as they all could hold a tune even if not perfectly (which to me is more fun anyway on a 10 live show series) and they all had genres of Music, could perform to a basic level, and they would've done better than Matt as they would've had a market with the Music buyers (in some cases a very niche one) but still a market that Matt just doesn't possess at this point.

Matt can prove me wrong, but so far his career seems to be heading down the same path as Louisa, Modelling.

Matt did manage a TOP 3 peak, so what's the problem? I don't think Ryan could do a better job with this song because he is a singer/songwriter type. Matt still has a better voice

As has been mentioned, last year the chart week shifted from Sunday to Friday meaning X Factor winners start the week 3 days of sales behind the others

Add into that streaming which takes time to get going.

Despite the 3 day disadvantage, Matt was actually the biggest seller of the week the week of its release

Had he the extra 3 days, he may have been able to overcome Clean Bandit's streams for Number 1

He also had no physical release like all other x factor winners

Considering the song sounds like a singer/songwriter type of song I think that Ryan would've done it better, hence more people would've bought the song.
