I'm nearly in tears and I'm listening to Rockin' All Over The World.
Oh, there's much worse tracks than that. 👀
I saw them in the Glen Ballroom in Llanelli late 60's when they had really silly mod hairstyles and they were semi-psychedelic - Pictures of Matchstick Men etc.
Then, years later they discovered the three chord trick and hey presto......!

There's a plaque on some new builds up the road from me. They played their first live gig in the pub that used to be there in 1967.

As I get older I expect to see stars and well known people die but 2016 seems to have been rather cruel taking so many and quite a number not really that old or expected.
Apart from Rick over 150,000 people also died the same day.

Status Quo after playing around with psychedelic and heavier sounds found their niche. Catchy, middle of the road pub band rock which themselves and lots of others enjoy. Even tho' it's not my cup of tea I respect them for that.
Francis Rossi will no doubt carry on touring the sound until he himself can't do it any more.

RIP Rick.

We all know Rick, though.

Sad news, but not entirely unexpected I think.

Status Quo's Rick Parfitt dies - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-38427459
Well yes it was unexpected for me. I didn't know that he was going to die.

2016 grin ripper thought they'd get another one in
Don't think that's it just yet. I hear that Carrie Fisher is in a critical condition. I hope she pulls through.

Quo covered this in 1986 with anti-war lyrics, sadly they re-released it in 2010 with pro-war changes to the lyrics.

For example:

"You've got your orders better shoot on sight" was changed to "You've got your orders better put things right".

This is the 1981 original by Dutch brothers 'Bolland' if you're interested:

Maybe I missed something, but if he picked up an infection in a Spanish hospital, how does that involve the NHS?
Unless you mean the Spanish Health System, Sistema Nacional de Salud.

Where did I mention the NHS in that post?

Very sad. A friend from school who I'm still in touch with has seen them over 50 times, he's devastated. The Quo were the soundtrack to our last few years of school.

RIP

Pictures of Matchstick Men is a great number, and yeah, same here, not a fan of anything else.

This is quite interesting tho' and worth a watch:

Status Quo - 'Is it really me' 1970

46 years ago and they've almost sorted that 'Quo' sound, along with some early headbanging!

Francis Rossi put this statement out Yesterday,

"I was not ready for this. Rick Parfitt had been a part of my story for fifty years. Without doubt the longest relationship of my life: this was also the most satisfying, frustrating, creative and fluid. From those early days, we worked together to create the Quo sound, look and hits. We spent years on the road, on the stage and in the studio, rarely far from each other, honing what we did.

We were a team, a double act, a partnership and yet also two very different people, handling the pressures of growing older, constant touring, dealing with success and keeping the creative flame burning in different ways. He developed his own sound, his own style, casually inspiring a generation of players.

Rick was the archetypal rock star, one of the originals, he never lost his joy, his mischievous edge and his penchant for living life at high speed, high volume, high risk. His life was never boring, he was louder and faster and more carefree than the rest of us. There were any number of incidents along the way, times when he strayed into areas of true danger and yet still losing him now is still a shock. Even in a year that has claimed so many of our best, including now George Michael, Rick Parfitt stands out. I was not ready for this."

Folk dying, like every year.
It's not every year this many famous people die though.

As we get older celebrity's are starting to die which what happens in life, everyone will die.

Celebs will die in 2017
Some of the celebrities who have died have not been that old though, David Bowie, Prince, Caroline Aherne, George Michael, all in their fifty's

I'd be surprised if 2017 sees as many die as this year.

David was 69.
