Even the Queen doesn't think much of May's so-called 'Brexit plans'

“Queen’s frustration with May over Brexit secrecy

●PM ‘disappointed’ royals during Balmoral visit
● No briefing about preparations for EU exit

The Queen was left “disappointed” with Theresa May after the prime minister declined to share plans for Brexit during her first stay at Balmoral, The Times has learnt.

Mrs May stuck to her “Brexit means Brexit” line during the visit to Scotland in September rather than giving a private briefing on how she intended to negotiate Britain’s way out of the European Union, according to a source close to the monarch. The prime minister’s failure to go beyond her public remarks during the stay meant that the Queen’s relationship with her 13th prime minister did not get off to an ideal start, the account suggests.

Why does everyone keep pretending that May, much less the Brexiters, have a plan for Brexit ?

The truth is: they haven't got a clue.

The Queen shouldn't really be asking the Prime Minister about it to be honest.

Also I doubt that she did it in that way or even felt like that after.

... "according to a source close to the monarch"

Highly irregular and I expect the Queen wouldn't be happy with the 'source'.

But it also says:-

... "the account suggests."

Indeed. May wants to use Royal Prerogative but not tell the monarch. It's a joke when you think about it. Shambolic is another word.

Their plan is to delay Brexit for as long as possible or at the very least until the next election.

May is a pro-EU elitist and is therefore convinced that David Cameron made a mistake by calling for a referendum. Her job now is to undo that 'mistake' and keep everyone happy at the same time.

If there's still no Brexit by the next election or if the talks are still in progress, I think there will be a Tory/Lib Dem coalition again. The Lib Dems will do everything they can to stop Brexit and I think that's the excuse May is looking for. The Lib Dems will be the scapegoats, May will come across as the good guy and there will be no Brexit.

May would never reveal such a devious plan to the Brexit-supporting Queen because she's a lady of honour and telling her would only serve to potentially damage her reputation at a later date.

That's my theory.

Whatever happens, we will not be leaving the EU.

About one of a million possible scenarios and also in the bottom third if you take into account the story so far. Then again so is a win on the lottery. Don't hold your breath though.

Mrs May is a turncoat. Her words are empty and she cannot be trusted. I thought how frail the Queen looked recently, but she is obviously is still wised up to the deviousness and unreliability of politicians, and Mrs May in particular. We are certainly going through strange and uncertain times.

A source, of course there is , they know full well they can print guff like this and any denial would give it more credence and not be believed anyway.

It is.

As Head of State, The Queen is entitled to ask any of her ministers about Government business.

No she isn't but what she can do is express her views. What she shouldn't do is ask questions about policy and strategy!

The Queen gives a weekly audience to the Prime Minister at which she has a right and a duty to express her views on Government matters of the day

Yeh, she's probably a bit miffed that it all aint got sorted yet so she can get the royal pen out and sign whatever into law but we know papers like to turn a couple of kids arguing over a toy into some sort of life and death dramatic struggle where both sides nearly died...etc etc.

SHOCKING NEWS : TheEngineer decided that buying something made in the UK is better than buying something from elsewhere as no where in the UK would deliver to his bridge

Yes I know it is laughable to be honest.

The press are so desperate for news on Brexit they are putting the Queen in the frame now.

And in order to express those views, she first needs to ask what the Government is doing.

She's Head of State. In theory, she could sack every Government minister tomorrow if she wanted.

Considering what happened last time the Libdems went into coalition with the Tories, not a chance!

What government is going to spend time planning for economic catastrophe? Answer none with any sense. The only plan other than being in EU is staying in single market and custom union. That plan existed under Cameron. Civil Service had done the work. It's only the suicide mob want to plan the suicide rather than just get on with it. Cameron wasn't prepared to lead a suicide mission or indeed plan it.

When David Davies our Transexit Minister was asked if MPs would have the government's plan in January or February....he waffled about still collecting data and was unable to indicate when the plan would be announced.

Despite the years of research, reports etc it took Theresa May's government 4 months to decide their position on a new runway.

So I can't see them making a considered & thoughtful decision in 1-2 months as to where the government is heading with Brexit.
