Stupid comment.

She is very popular, she had her own TV show, sung bond themes, it's not just about what one person likes or dislikes. But the many.

Strange though that there's not much on YouTube of Tom and Shirley together ............t
you'd think they'd have dueted a lot over the decades being the pre-eminent Welsh pop stars

I wonder if they didn't like each other.............

Yeah, why would the BBC want to do a Christmas Eve show featuring a DAME who has appeal across many generations, is the only singer to sing more than one Bond theme, is still releasing music, has had several different styles across the years and is still being courted by producers, and can sell out the Royal Albert Hall at the age of 80. Why would they want to do a show around that - I really can't see why!

Such a moronic comment.

I agree, just a shame that she has Walliams with her.

Shirley never liked him because of all the lies he told when he was starting his career (e.g. he was saying he was single and a miner when he was married and had never been near one!) and she didn't like how he refused to acknowledge his love-child either, especially as she had lost a child of her own and felt that Tom should've owned up to his actions. I can't blame her really.

I think they do get on...a lot.

Agree.

I dispair " one person" doesn't like it, and so as they do not personally like it, no one else is allowed to, and they think the whole BBC is therefore on drugs! Says more about the poster.

Dame Shirl is a gay icon, you'd think the BBC would have selected a gay man to host this brown nosing waste of licence payers money.

David was picked because he's a close friend of DSB and he's also a huge Bond fan. DSB is apparently quite a nervous person and only really likes being interviewed by people she knows well, so you can see why they picked David.

David Walliams is so bad interviewing her. There is an awkward silence when he asks her a question. They should have got a more experienced person to interview her.

this is a bit of a mish mash

might have been better without the sketches and as a more factual documentary about her career illustrated with clips

maybe with a concert to follow

I'm enjoying the Shirley Bassey parts, but the David Walliams sketches are really grating - his gay/camp persona does get irritating after a while.

They did this a few years ago, possibly for her 75th birthday. It was really interesting and showed how businesslike she is about her career and how seriously she takes looking after her voice. No idea if it is on YouTube.

I'd have rather seen a repeat of that really than this. David Walliams may know her but was an awful interviewer and the sketches and stuff ruined the show and made it more about him when it was meant to be a celebration of DSB.

Shirley was fabulous as always though, I who have nothing was very special

Exactly, what a pity because the Dame is still able to hit the high notes.
