There has been so many threads about when radio stations stop playing it I thought I'd put this instead. Kiss sounds one of them as they are just playing dance music now. There are probably some chart ones that play the top 40 right through Christmas Day. Not sure about the oldies ones.

All the American stations seem to replace their usual playlist over a month before Christmas and play all Christmas hits 24/7 instead.

Here in the UK in early December in most uk stations it starts up with 1 or 2 Christmas hits here and there on the playlist, then 2 weeks befoee Christmas there's a fair sprinking of them and then in the final week before Christmas the Christmas hits almost totally dominate the playlist.

It's almost complete overkill no matter what side of the atlantic it is.

Hi Jonathan ! Hope you had a good Christmas !

Not sure if anyone played NO Christmas tracks. At least nowadays the routine seems to be to stop playing them as soon as Christmas day has gone.

Broadcasters seem to be doing a good job of trying to find a wider range of Christmas tracks than in previous years, which is a pleasant change? No more near-total dependency upon 1963 Phil Spector and 1974 "Slade". I was pleased too that my friends at our two Sunshine stations played the original Peggy Lee version of "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" and not the Mel & Kim version. A special mention must be given to people at Caroline in their Kent studios for playing some beautiful and rare Christmas tracks that were a delight to listen to.

The problem that we have now, Jonathan, is that WE the listeners, having consumed considerable amounts of - ER - liquid refreshments on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, are now expected by various radio presenters to use our brains.... In OUR state ???

..." So in the gap between Christmas and New Year, we're giving YOU the listeners the chance to pick ALL of the songs, so phone or text in with your requests ! Just ONE thing - make sure that they are GOOD tracks !"....

I have this theory that all radio presenters are sadists....
