Loved Ernie's plays where he mangles English grammar.

''If you're lucky you get to stand on Everest, and you can see the world below you at your feet. That's what it was like when we had The Morecambe and Wise Show - it felt like we were standing on Everest''

The very last show was produced by Thames and shown on December 26,1983. The guests included Derek Jacobi, Nigel Hawthorne, Burt Kwouk. Fulton Mackay and Gemma Craven

On last night's show there was a sketch which was based during WW1 with Eric dressed as a German soldier. So he was wearing puttees on his legs which were thigh high rather than knee high and a German helmet with the usual spike on the top, but of course he had a candle stuck on the end of the spike, he was so funny!

The Thames shows ran from October 1978 to December 1983 but never achieved the success of their programmes on the BBC.
