Rhydler and Reserved - I can't speak for Sqwidge - but I think what initially got under my skin was when Rhydler said something along the lines of as a fan from the beginning I/we should be appalled as (s)he is which in my opinion felt as though he was forcing his views on me.

She's fine. I am pleasaed to see that her sp;ots have finall cleared up.

Her first job as Aunty will be to warn Rebecca about going with older men.

I'm up for any recast if the original actor doesn't want to return and there are storylines to tell. The only time I would find it ridiculous is if we started going down the neighbours route and recasting due to temporary sickness/leave (e.g. Libby and Cheryl). I would be happy with a Linda recast if Kelly left full time but not just to confirm error maternity leave.
But there aren't storylines to tell now that haven't needed to have been told over the last 20 years. This EP is trying to make a name for himself and he doesn't care how he does it. The previous one wasn't prepared to do it, this one was.

Why was Sharon wailing like she hasn't seen her in 20 years, she saw her in the summer

No, I didn;t. I see them as Grandma figures....not sure how you can fancy those
I'm not sure either why I fancied them.

I assumed Sharon was upset about what had happened with Phil and was probably feeling all alone and was just relieved that her one true friend was there for her.

Just as I felt the overriding sentiment of 'give her a chance' was insulting to those who hold the character dear, and an attempt to nip any 'haters' in the bud before they start on and force them to not state their view.

Because he's a weirdo. He'd alike to see Donna pregnant doing an impression of Sandi Shaw !!

I wouldn't say there aren't story-lines to tell - the Beale/Fowler family is the strongest it has been for years and considering the lengths previous producers have gone to explain Michelle's continued absence I think it a brave move to attempt to bring hr back into the fold - the only other options would have been to keep explaining her absence, kill her off or just sort of never mention her again (all of which would have just as much positive/negative on here)

The previous one was just obsessed with pure sensationalism. SOC just wants to tell everday stories.

I think the only reason I was saying "Give her a Chance" was not to impose my views on anyone but just that she was not in long enough, in my opinion, to give anyone a full impression on how well the recast will work or not. Now after tomorrows show, in which she will likely be a major player, I would more readily accept their opinions (even if personally I think a couple of months is needed for any recast to prove their worth or not) - I do hope that Jenna can sway your views but if not then it is not meant to be.

We all have different opinions I guess. As an EastEnders fan from the start it's a bit strange to see a new face on Michelle but what I'm hoping to see is the genuine connection that Michelle and her 'Daddy' Sharon had with each other when they were great friends and looking after Vicky in that little flat.

I'm not sure they have my friend. Save for the Den exit of 2005.
The fairground collapse around the same time 😱😨😱😨 couldn't get any lower than that!!

Wen I first saw the 'Daddy' Sharon comment I thought you were suggesting a DTC type re-write.

She was absolutely brilliant. She has now become Michelle and I don't remember Sue at all.
Totally agree!! (Apart from the Sue bit!)
LOVED tonight's episode. Dot's trip down memory lane in the launderette. Pauline and Lou talking - leading into Michelle returning to the square after 20 years,!! It made it feel authentic!! Totally believable and I bought into the fact Sharon and Michelle hadn't seen each other on the square for all of that time! Very special moment. Am very excited to have Michelle back (doesn't she look like the actress that played Vicky?!!!!)
Authentic and Triumphant!! Welcome home Michelle! ❤

(Would love to see a return for Mark Jnr and Vicky!) 😊😊😊

Until I see her with a folder under her arm she isn't Michelle to me.

What makes no sense is why return now and not at the funerals of both your parents and your brother?

I didn't see the original Michelle but I think it's quite unfair that you'd judge her from a few lines in one episode. However, I would probably be apprehensive if they recast one of my favourites from my time watching randomly! I'm giving Jenna a chance, I think the odds are in her favour as Michelle is an iconic character with ties to the show still who will be easy to fit back in.

Nope, it was a joke they had when Michelle and Sharon were co-parenting,- sort of- Vicky. Mind you i did wonder if that little girl was going to grow up thinking her mum and Sharon were lesbians or Sharon was a man in a frock.

Wow, how many lines was it and how many minutes on screen and already some people have decided they don't like her but then I suspect they had actually decided that the moment the re-cast was announced.

For God's sake people give her a chance.

I have watched as a young teenager from day one and I am willing to see how things develop - look at Mark for example or how a walking pile of super-excrement replaced the layered human being that was once the Philth in the late 90's.
Todd carry was miscast as the new Mark. Never like him compared the the old one. He wasn't 'hard' enough.

At the moment it'll be "who is this woman" for me. I think of Sue Tully as Michelle and that'll take time to change. Scenes with Martin and Stacey will be fine. Sharon and Ian scenes will take more time getting used to but if she sticks around I'm sure it'll be fine.

I really like James Bye and he is Martin for me. He is great with Stacey but never really got him with his scenes with Sonia. They were two new people interacting. Be interesting to see if I can get out that with Sharon and Michelle.

I'm cool with it. The character is more important than the actor and after twenty years away, I'lt accept any recast. That would apply to Grant too, if he'd not been on screen for twenty years but he has, so it's irrelevant.
