The Hollies tried to get psychedelic with Butterfly, but it pretty much flopped, and led to Graham Nash going off to the USA, whilst The Hollies went back to what they were best at.
The Beatles were said to be superb live before they were famous, but once they were, they were unable to perform properly due to crowd noise, and poor sound systems of the day.
The DC5 cannot be compared to the likes of The Beatles, The Stones and Led Zeppelin. They were an out and out pop group.”

Of course they can't. They were ordinary middle of the road pop as the Hollies were.
Nov 1963, The Beatles performing on The Royal Variety Show with a quiet audience. An excellent live performance when they could be heard!

Just one year after their first single Love Me Do, then From me to You, She Loves You and their first LP Please Please Me.
I'd have liked to see people like next generation ABBA perform on stage with just that sound equipment and nothing else they and others were using for enhancement by then..

I'm sure they found them amusing though.”
