A book called "The master and margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov.
And a mini calender from one of my mothers friends.

My Mother died recently and we still have the funeral in a few days time, so l said that l wasn't doing Christmas this year. Good to know the rest of my family only give when they receive, my oh so "involved" brother has not even bothered to call (he is hard to contact, on a normal day). I know what his excuse is going to be useless tosser, good mind to charge the estate a fortune for my time and services, since l have been left to do EVERYTHING.

Sorry gone right off thread.

I have been very lucky.

From the ward staff I got some bath things, a 3D puzzle and some socks.

I got a colouring book, some pencils and Freddos from some friends, and a set of mugs, a 'friendship' tag and a specially made frame that says 'It takes a long time to grow an old friend' from my best friend.

Bubble bath and a mug from the step-brother and family, Christmas PJs and bubble bath from aunt/uncle, and my dad and step-mum visited me in hospital this afternoon with a stocking including chocolate coins, a mug, a reindeer shower cap and penguin wash mitt hehe, marbles, juggling balls hehehe, a penguin mug, and main presents of a book, owl earrings and a watch.

I haven't swapped with the brother and his fiancee yet, but I am excited to give everyone their presents now, I can't wait to be out of hospital to give everyone their gifts.

Bless your heart, puts it into perspective. Hope it all works out well for you.

I know the feeling - Mum and Dad died this year, I was dealing with everything as one brother's abroad, the other disinterested, so I put it all in the hands of an Estate management company - which is fortunate as the house flooded in August (burst pipe that was left for weeks, ceiling caved into kitchen, the whole property is a mess and all belongings ruined) and they are dealing with it all.

When Jr went in for her spine surgery in November I told the management firm that the other two (my brothers) would be dealing with it from now on and have left them all to it as I'm busy with Jr.

ETA: Sorry, also derailing

The plus side today is that we went for our meal at the pub (one of a Hungry Horse chain), it took an hour to get each course and we ended up leaving without settling the bill (we had paid £30 each as a deposit so only £15 was due). Food was good, but it was a lengthy dull afternoon with complaints and people walking out all over the place, Jr couldn't sit for any longer and we had to leave!

They did make somebody's Xmas special though http://www.bathchronicle.co.uk/pub-l...ail/story.html

I got very tired but a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction helping out from early this morning preparing and serving dinner to the local homeless and those who are alone
Rewarding but tiring, if I never see another Brussel sprout again I will be delighted
My family don't exchange presents, we just donate to charity instead

Amongst a few things my wife bought me the new Kate Bush live CD for actual playing,... and, and, and the vinyl boxset. We don't have a record player, I'm never going to play it, I'm just going to own it.
