Today, Christmas day, two Disney animated juggernauts of their respective decades go head to head. On BBC 1, representing the current decade, we have Frozen, and on ITV 1, representing the 90s, we have The Lion King. Both on at 15:10, both the highest grossing animated films when released. But which will your family be watching, and which will come out on top? There's only one way to find out...

Personally, I like The Lion King more so I will most likely watch that on ITV 1.

Actually watched 3D version of frozen this morning. Loved both the film and the 3D. For me no competition, frozen everytime. Thats not to say lion king isn't good though but when viewing figures come in, there will be only one winner.

The Lion King is the better film, but Frozen will pull in the higher ratings. It's winter themed, it's on ad-free TV, it's popular amongst the current generation. It's a no brainer really.

Plus the fact audiences have had almost 20 years longer to see the Lion King.

Lion king trending on the Twitter with 14.9k tweets
Frozen currently on 2,250

If I had to watch one it would be the Lion King but I can't watch films on ITV because of the ad breaks every 10 minutes.

Are people still calling it ITV 1? It hasn't been called that in years!

The Lion King isn't one of my favourite Disney films but I'd watch it over Frozen any day as I don't like the scary eyes of modern animation.

I do think Frozen will win in the ratings due to its (over-)hype in recent years and that very bland song. I hope Disney make a fortune of those hideous blue dresses from little girls brainwashed for many years to come.

Never watched either. Didn't do today. Although somewhere buried under my junk in the house, is a DVD of The Lion King I got free with Norton Internet Security a few years ago.

I prefer the Lion king. It's in my top 10 favourite animated films. My favourite Disney film is Oliver And Company. I would personally place The Lady And The Tramp and Dumbo just ahead of The Lion king. It's true that I have always preferred animals in animated films such as The Land Before Time, Watership Down and Animal Farm, but I do have the original tv movie of The BFG, The Corpse Bride, Mary And Max and The Yellow Submarine as among my favourites. I used to go mad when Dogtanian came on. I used to reenact all the parts.

Oh and the Lion King has better music, probably the best from Disney ever. Frozen has Let It Go which some people on Twitter are calling the song annoying. Another favourite in the IwasBored household from Frozen was the song with the snowman when he goes bur bur bur bur. This is only an opinion, feel free to pick it apart at your will.

Merry Christmas everybody

Thank you Matt
No surprise but it doesn't mean that Frozen is the better film

I don't think it's fair really to compare them. They're both good films in the their own right.

Lion King would've beat Frozen had Channel 4 not wasted the premiere in the middle of the summer were it got 1.8m.

I'm amazed the figures are so close, considering its the first showing of Frozen on terrestial TV, & LK has been on dozens of times, hasent it ?

You've no such luck. A Broadway musical is planned and Frozen 2 should be along in a few years time, along with a Christmas special next year.

Hopefully by the time Frozen 2 is released they will have corrected many of the faults in from Frozen. I felt Frozen was far to focused on Anna, where as Elsa was a more interesting and complex character. Also they will follow the animation lead from Frozen Fever where they did tone down slightly the bulging eyes

But more focus on Elsa means Lion Kng syndrome, i.e. no middle act. I would much rather the alleged structural issues of Frozen than those of Lion King, any day.
