With family's getting together and being woken up first thing in the morning to open gifts, tensions will be running high for some. So come on fess up what happened?

Nothing - I specifically avoid all my blood relations family on Christmas Day. The last time I spent with them, my Father and I got into a blazing row about politics (he's much more left wing than me) and he ended up chucking a coaster at me, and calling me a fascist bastard.

Sorry, but I honestly can't remember any major Christmas day traumas or arguments...is this unusual? Anyway, it's just me and the cat this morning, so all is peaceful...

Sounds like my kind of morning can't be doing with all the stresses of family on Christmas Day!

Other than someone having a moan about the fridge being up too high and the bacon being stuck together, no drama.

Thanks, but nothing to feel sorry for me over. I'm seeing my girl friend and her parents this afternoon. A much more preferable situation.

You have a great day yourself

The great thing about cats is that they don't argue with you and are often to be found minding their own business or sleeping

Have a great day today everyone, I've got my youngest at one until tomorrow and then I'm down to London. If my ex didn't play mind games and place my youngest under loads of pressure just to get at me then this part of Christmas morning would be less stressful.

Have a great Xmas everybody.

I read your post and Christmas can put a lot of strain on families.

Try not to let stuff get you down, all the best TS.

nothing major so far, just kids on haribo and an irritating hypochondriac on the sofa who spent all night snoring but "never slept a wink".

i`ve escaped to the shed for some restorative inhalation.

In my experience people are always horrible to each other at christmas, they decide the whole thing is all about doing things they don't want to do for other people, and then they're really shitty about it and make damn sure everyone around them suffers and has a miserable time just because they've decided they have to do something they didn't want to do. Given that it's often the only time in the year that you get to see some family members, I'd much rather people just did what they wanted and were nice to each other.

Very peaceful day so far, grand niece was a little tearful first thing but that's normal these days I'm hoping in new year she will start feeling better as she gets more mobile again but it's hard on a child when they suddenly lose mobility.

No arguments here, little sister and I are still lazing in bed

Can't promise there won't be some later on when my brother brings his complete bitch of a girlfriend to my nans for dinner, however I plan to be pretty drunk and passed out on the sofa by the time they arrive.

My mum and sister had an argument yesterday over whether Brexit is responsible for reducing the number of triangles in Toblerone bars. My mum then complained about "remoaners" for a while.

Not a row as such but OH goes so over the top with things it really drives me mental, I spent over 300 quid on food and yesterday he comes in with more things for yesterdays lunch when I got loads of stuff. Then again this morning wanting a full fry up on the day when we've got enough for about a thousand people. Its so excessive.

All peace and goodwill chez The Lakies, but then it just the two of us (plus the dog).

We've both eaten too much (bloody fab dinner) and are sprawled on the sofas.

The OH and I had words this morning before our visitors arrived. It was the stress of trying to get everything ready on time and he got in a nark that I couldn't hold a plate for him to put the turkey on while he carved it because I was too busy getting the veg on! But he got over it quickly thankfully.

I am a carer for my Mum, so Christmas is the time of year I actually get a bit of me time alone. I look after her dogs so that she can go to my sister's for lunch. I really enjoy actually spending Christmas on my own. My real holiday will be when I have returned the dogs to my Mother and I get a few day alone without the dogs. Really looking forward to it.
