Didn't she record it back in July already?

It's pre-recorded.

Dare I mention that Jools' Annual Hootenanny is also pre-recorded

Is it not pre-recorded? Therefore HMQ will do it, as usual?

Has it ever been live?

Total and utter cobblers:-

Quote:
“Senior members of the family have joined the Queen at Sandringham and they will all be sitting down promptly at 1.15pm in the green-walled dining room hung with Spanish tapestries and rising after just over an hour to be in good time to watch her annual message on TV to the Commonwealth at 3pm.

In her Christmas speech broadcast later on today, the Queen will praise the 'inspirational' Team GB athletes in her Christmas Day address, as well as the achievements of 'ordinary people doing extraordinary things'.

In her annual televised message to the nation, the monarch will speak on the theme of 'inspiration', citing the work of 'unsung heroes' across the nation.

The broadcast comes at the end of a momentous year in which the UK voted for Brexit, leading to David Cameron resigning, and the Queen celebrated her 90th birthday.

The Queen, wearing a blue dress by Angela Kelly, will also refer to the achievements of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, which celebrated its 60th anniversary, and The Prince's Trust, which turned 40 this year. ”

I hope she puts in a good word for David Cameron - one of the greatest leaders this country's ever had.

Also she's wearing a dress by Angela Kelly, that great dressmaker. I'm sure it'll be a sight for your subjects to behold, Ma'am.

The point of recording it is so that she can watch it at 3pm with everyone else while semi-sloshed

And all these years I thought she was in two places at once playing on Hogmanay Live on BBC 1 Scotland and Jools on BBC 2.

I feel defrauded.

Totally misleading thread title. No-where in that article does it say the speech may not be shown. Pathetic attempt at trolling IMHO.

To be fair, he probably thought it was live.

*edit - Les just posted that - I should have refreshed the page!

Oh come on, surely everyone knows it's recorded? You don't think it comes live from Sandringham every year, do you?

BBC announced this morning that she recorded it days ago. Doesn't matter to me, I never watch her anyway.

But the entire camera crew ect will have to work Christmas Day to film it it's not just Charles filming on his iPhone.

It may be only 10 mins to her but behind the scenes it will take a days work.

If the Queen died between recording the message and Xmas Day, would it still be broadcast? Personally I would very much doubt it, maybe replaced by a message from Charles thanking everyone for their thoughts etc.

But somewhere there'll be a protocol I suppose.

Why do the vague ramblings of an old woman about her family, faith and the forces need to be live?
