Sounds great - it's been ages since they did a proper old-school two-hander ep.

Sorry if it's been mentioned, & merry crimbo!

This sounds promising and it's great that Letitia Dean is well and truly back at the forefront of the show. Jenna Russell is a top notch actress and I am more than willing to be onbalrd with this next chapter of Michelle'a life.

It seems they are really investing in Michelle's return and I actually trust the new Exec to do it well. Last nights episode was beautiful.

I trust SOC to make a good job of things.

He's quite obviously focused on characters rather than sensation, as last night's episodes proved,

March 2010 between Max & Stacey, the last one before that was August 2004.

This sounds very good indeed and it seems to suit SOC's style.

Two-handers can be both amazing or extremely boring. But I have faith that the Michelle/Sharon one will be amazing, after all Michelle does have a lot of explaining to do.

Eastenders History:
If this is a complete two-hander, it will be the first:
- two-hander in almost 7 years
- two-hander to feature the same characters as a previous two-hander (Michelle and Sharon previously had a two-hander on 4th April 1989)
- two-hander in January

They haven't done a two hander in years. I really wanted to see one between Ian and Kathy when Kathy returned. Two of the shows biggest most iconic characters with so much to talk about I think its a real shame we never got that. Hopefully Sharon and Michelle will be good though.

Thanks, quite right this should be an area where SOC can excel.

Great news, here's a list of the past two-hander episodes.

I've liked a lot of the past EastEnders two-hander episodes especially the one between Zoe and Kat in 2001 so I'm definitely looking forward to this.

I agree Ian and Kathy two hander would have really helped to make Kathys return a bit more successful I think to give us the chance to believe Kathy was manipulated by pants Gav, who was about as menacing a teletubby

I did like Ian and Sharon's almost two hander last year, it's a shame it was interrupted by Alfie taking Martin in after finding out he was homeless

This sounds promising! Been crying out for these type of episodes for ages. Letitia and Jenna will carry this off.

Once they showed a two-hander of Sharon's addoptive parents Den and Angie which aired back in the 80s. It went on for half an hour yet I felt like it could have been covered in 2 minutes. It reminds me of EastEnders now.

I presume you only watched that episode on YouTube out of context recently as you have said on another thread that you have only been watching soaps for a couple of years. Den & Angie were easily the most popular characters in the early years of EE and this two hander aired more than 18 months after it first started.

Their relationship was volatile and the two hander was at the peak of their popularity coming along a couple of months before the Xmas episode of 86 which gave EE its biggest audience ever. EE wouldn't have got that big Xmas audience if it wasn't in anticipation of the climax of the Den & Angie storyline of her declaring she only had 6 months to live in that two hander episode in the first place.

I watched it on the BBC site (possibly it was on there for the 30th?)

Did they really use clickbait and say that a legendary character was going to die just so they could get so many viewers?

No in the two hander we knew she was lying about dying because after Den walked off she had a big smile on her face to show the viewers she was lying.

Going on memory, as this was 30 years ago, Den had overheard Angie talking to a waiter or somebody while her and Den were on a trip on the Orient Express that she had made it up and the anticipation of the Xmas episode was what Den was going to do about this lie.

Sounds as though it might be quite dull, Sharon has got quite self righteous and whining of late.

Not really clickbait - Angie told Den she was dying but at the end of the two-hander Angie smirked letting us into her deception - meaning that we were playing a waiting game for Den to find out.

No, the story was that Angie lied to Den about having six months to live. Sorry, I'm confused - didn't you say you watched it? It's possibly one of the most famous stories of the eighties.

Oh right, I remember that now. I was thinking if SOC did that to someone like Stacey, telling us that she was going to die at Christmas, everyone would be furious.
