|You may be right, but for once it felt okay! Frankie was better, but Melvin seems a lovely bloke.

Len gave the reason. They sign 2 year deals on DWTS and he has another left on his contract. His contract with the BBC was 1 year at a time and he decided to just slow down gradually.

I always liked her with her short hair because she stood out from all the other girl singers with their "big hair" but she even managed to look good covered in green make-up!

Absolutely crazy Melvin win and got a 40, but even though it is suprising, it isn't really because of the way he went out. No way was he better hen Denise or Gethin or anywhere near Frankie.

The man cannot dance and the end where it was everyone all together was embarrasing for him.

Crazy.

He does not have to keep flying between the two, I think DWTS is done in Los Angeles so he stay somewhere nice and warm whilst doing that series.

This time it looks like Mervin O'Diddled the Christmas special

Whizzed through a good bit of the talking but loved Anton's reaction to getting a 10.

Frankie was charming but Melvin and Janette captured the fun of Christmas, and that's what the show should be about.

Money, yes certainly, but he also gets to semi-retire in Los Angeles where it is filmed and soak up the sun and all California has to offer.

Beats being poor and sitting watching another grey day in England.

Frankie's dance was good, but ended up more about Gorka, again, than Frankie!

The fact that Len gave every couple a 10 it was left to the other three to rank the celebs fairly. I thought Melvin & Janette were worthy winners.

I'm just catching up with DS but haven't seen Strictly Christmas yet (keeping it for tomorrow!) but read the comment above.
I would put absolutely any sum of money on the fact that Chloe did absolutely none of the choreography for her routine.
She has zilch experience of choreography other than what she has been taught as an amateur and when I see it tomorrow I would guess it will have Neil Jones written all over it?

So Chloe is a dancing champion at various competitions ( heard this on the vt) and she doesn't do choreography? Just copy and pasted this from the BBC Strictly page -

Bio: Hewitt got into dancing aged just 7 after spotting an advert for lessons at a friend's birthday party. She dances professionally with fellow Strictly newbie AJ Pritchard. The pair have racked up trophies including British Open Youth Latin Champions, National Youth Latin Champions and European Open Youth Latin Champions, as well as appearing on Britain’s Got Talent in 2013. The duo reached the semi-finals.

Her Wikipedia page says she's a Dancer and Choreographer??

Fair play to Melvin but it was a joke him winning. Both Frankie and Gethin would have been worthy winners.

Len giving them all a 10 - clearly given up and taking the piss.

I remember when the Christmas show used to mean something. Now it's just a bit of fun and fluff. Shame really.

Yes but brings up a horrible thought of Len on the Californian beach in his Speedos and wearing a knotted handkerchief.

Makes a bit of a mockery of the show if someone can get 40 and win over 3 people who nearly took the trophy on the main show - whne the public voted them out straight away and the judges didn't think they were good enough to be saved once.

If its that random , they might as well roll a dice for marks, toss a coin for the dance off , or just pick whoever creates most negative publicity if they go, to win.

Yes she and AJ were Champions but as amateurs, they only turned pro to do Strictly and like every other top amateur they travel the country having lessons in technique from one professional teacher, choreography from another and so on, they do not do their own choreography at all.

Clear to see that you are not from the dancing world and that is not meant unkindly, it's just the way it works.

No 19 year old (as she was then) does their own choreography and that's quite simply fact.

I already knew Melvin won because I looked at the spoiler thread weeks back but wanted to watch him to see if he deserved it. Well I saw him and it was a Strictly Christmas travesty. 40! lol

Frankie should have won.

I'm not saying you are right or wrong about whether Chloe did her own routine or not, as I don't know.

However, what I would say is that from what I saw, and based on her own ballroom experience and the many dems they (Chloe and AJ) do, she would have been more than capable of putting this particular routine together. It was, mostly, very basis QS with a couple of "crowd pleasing" groups and filler. I won't go into detail as I don't want to spoil it for you. It was a simple but effective routine danced well by Gethin.

Len would have given Ed Balls 10 if he had been in it.

The audience enjoyed Melvin more ... part of that was probably sympathy and part was probably due to his personality ... cos he's just so amiable but it was a fun routine and he danced it well.

Oviously you have never seen Julianne Hough who was 18 when she won DWTS with her own choreography.

For sure, particularly as he was a good deal better than Ainsley!

Enjoyed the show last night and wasn't surprised in Melvin winning at all. The scoring was ridiculous but a good representation of what went on in the main series this year It did seem very engineered toward a Marvin win, which I presume is due to the circumstances under which he was eliminated on the main show.

My favourite routine was Gethin & Chloe's QS, which I thought was absolutely brilliant. No idea why Chloe couldn't have put the choreography together. The routine itself would have been a piece of cake for someone of Chloe's ability and really not hard to think up. It's simplicity was one of it's appealing factors, and it had Chloe's fun personality and youthfulness written all over it. If indeed it was the work of someone else kudos to them for designing a routine perfectly for the couple dancing it. Really hoping Chloe gets partnered up next series.
