I don't buy any books unless they are 3 or 4 for a quid in the lesser Charity shops

Actually an ex girlfriend of mine turned me on to Charity Shops.

She got many of her clothes from them and was in no way a scruff. Found some really nice stuff.

So I do the same now. I really begrudge paying full retail prices and have come to learn that some Charity Shops are rip-off merchants too.

Part of the fun of going into Town or on a day trip to another Town.

My Waitrose was giving away bread on Xmas Eve, almost exclusively to women it has to be said by one male till-jockey. It amused me to see him grudgingly give a loaf to a man who asked for a freebie that he'd clearly been instructed to distribute to customers without gender bias!
