Eastenders last night - Was I the only one...

...who spent the latter half of the episode just hoping that Dot would let that damn poor cat inside? I was glad when she eventually brought it inside and went to get it some food. I really hope this is the start of a nice friendship between Dot and her new pet. We always have dogs in soaps but cats don't feature much.

Merry Christmas everyone by the way.

Poor cat. At least there is some kindness in the heart of the evil homophobic serial killer, even though it is small.

Yes, I love that cat.

He/She reminds me of my cat that died a few years ago.

If think it was kinda obvious she would. But the dark side of me was hoping she wouldn't so I could prove how evil she is!

You were glad when she let her future killer in the house? Mark my words 'EthelJim' will be the death of Dot

But the cute little cat is the reincarnation of uber-racist Jim Branning - so looks like a match made in Heaven (or Hell if you prefer)

Cats are nothing more than vermin and parasites.

Cats are beautiful creatures - more intelligent and loving than mangy old dogs

No, cats are not more loving than dogs on the whole/ as a species.

Dogs produce far more oxytocin (the so called love hormone) when they interact with their owners. Cats do care about their owners, but not as much as dogs.

Domestic dogs have evolved from a social animal and so have a greater ability to empathise and bond with others while the ancestor of the domestic cat was a solitary predator.

Tell that to my cats (and all those dogs who maul children)

Dogs also get rabies. Cats are more hygienic, low maintenance, and safer to be around.

Dogs have also killed children and cats have saved them. Dogs are noisy, yappy things that require walks and constant attention.

I love cats, they are the most beautiful little creatures, so lovely.

I hope Dot keeps and loves that cat she has taken in.

Trying to paint all Dogs as complete sociopahic serial killers and cats as lovable sweet superheroes is ludicrous.

Both have their positive and negative features. Sure some dogs have attacked humans and most of the time that's down to how their owns treat the dogs in the first place.
