Really surprised at Emmerdale getting votes it was just meh, everyone sat around talking no drama at all.

I really am thinking of picking up with Eastenders again now Phil is going to get better at last.

They were all decent enough, but Emmerdale edged it for me. EastEnders was lovely and cosy, but not a lot really happened in it considering it was the Christmas Day episode. I did enjoy the community feel to it when the locals all gathered for dinner in the Vic after the power cut, and I enjoyed the Dot and 'Ethel' scenes!

Which is why it was liked. Lots of family christmas scenes, poignant with Ashley, gentle relationship drama with the Dingles, sadness for Moira.
We don't need deaths, divorces or kidney transplants to make a Christmas episode!

They can do that all year, but I guess fair play at least one was more realistic though.

Exactly, we get that all year round. Call me sad but I just like seeing other families celebrate Christmas, I liked the Dingle's.

EastEnders closely followed by Emmerdale.

Corrie was filled with boring storylines, as mentioned half the cast were missing, making it feel very disjointed. Not to mention it lacked any sort of a 'Christmassy' feel to it, and aside from Roy/Brian/Mary in the cafe did we actually see any other families/character groups having Christmas Dinner, sharing jokes and just generally enjoying the day? I don't think we did. Very disappointing.

Corrie - just embarrassing. 12 years off screen but Kate Oates could not have cocked up Toyah's return any harder. Such a legacy character and great actress deserved so much better. Half the cast were missing. There was no real festive atmosphere, in fact there was no atmosphere at all. Peter/Nick was briefly entertaining, and I enjoyed the oldies and Mary. But that's about it.

EastEnders - never thought I'd say this but show is far too warm nowadays! Yes, it badly needed warming up but as usual, they've gone from one extreme to the other. There were some nice touches but overall, it was too much filler. Also the continuity was bonkers - it started really early in the morning when it was dark, then at one point skipped straight to night, so the whole episode was in the dark - including the Vic power cut! Lee's arrest and Max's comeback were the only real highlights, but these both happened in the last two minutes. Stax feels like the EE of a very long time ago. Average.

Emmerdale - quite good, certainly the best of a bad bunch. Nicola and Elliot bonding was so sweet, as well as deliciously ironic! The lad who plays him is just so adorable, hope they make more of him. The snow was actually real, which did add to the atmosphere! Joanie did the right thing. I really felt for her actually. Zak has no-one to blame but himself and the ending was suitably bittersweet! An okay episode, enjoyed it more than the other two certainly.

We seemed to see more of that on Christmas Eve actually, which is even more bizarre!

Maybe not where you live but I've seen snow loads of times on Christmas Day over the years, both where I live and when I've visited friends/family in other parts of the country.

A lot of us Emmerdale viewers prefer low key stuff to drama.

The approach taken with EE's Christmas episode would have served Corrie so well.

It's winning because people have been voting for it. Clearly they don't agree with you.

People started voting for EE on the poll both before the episode had aired, and before it had finished. That shows you the mentality of EE fans - most of them are totally mental.

That's an unfair generalisation. It happens all the time with polls on here.

But EE fans are staggeringly aggressive and defensive, compared to other soaps. They're like a cult, I find it creepy and completely alienating.

I love how Emmerdale and CS love to bash EastEnders fans when there shows aren't doing good. Jealous that we don't have advert breaks and you do?

Why would us Emmerdale fans be jealous of EastEnders, the shows are completely different. What I love about Emmerdale is its uniqueness something EastEnders doesn't have.

Emmerdale is awfully sensationalist whilst EastEnders is true to life.

I voted Emmerdale - Cheesy, Christmassy and slightly musical! Not what we expect in a soap nowadys.....but it was cheerful (most of the time). What I expect on Christmas Day with everyone gathered round the TV! (Reminded me of when good old Crossroads had Meg singing around the tree etc!). Corrie was similar - in its own way, and EastEnders.....welll the usual dreary stuff - but at least we got a sing-song towards the end before the 'duff duffs' at the end!! Did Max Branning leave? That's how long since I watched it!

Ian and Jane framed him for killing Lucy when it was actually Bobby. Bobby attacked Jane and put her in a wheelchair and is now in prison and Max got out.

Emmerdale loved the Thomas's and the dingles and Emma v Layla is making me laugh, also comeuppance for Zac is brilliant.
