Are you that desperate to be the thread starter that you have to start the thread way early to be first?

Christmas day isn't even anywhere near over never mind the 12 days of Christmas

It's sort of over for me too now. The rellies have gone home, eldest son is upstairs playing with his Xbox, daughter has gone over the road to her friends, o/h is dozing on the sofa and peace reigns. After having the devil of a cold, I couldn't taste the dinner I cooked, but the others seemed to enjoy it. Forgot to get Bisto granules to thicken the gravy so all I had were a the last couple of teaspoonfuls in the tub. Lazy evening for me now.

Just a normal day for me, but hope everyone had or is having a great Christmas.

About to watch the Doctor Who Christmas special then some films later.

Christmas Lunch just doesn't sound right to me, it has to be Christmas Dinner surely.
Guess it depends where you come from? Or perhaps it's just me, is lunch the norm nowadays?

It is not over until I have had my birthday tea with chocolate cake then passed out spilling a half empty glass of wine in my lap while watching the evening film.

It's not over for us for a few days yet as we've got my mum's birthday to celebrate tomorrow and my son's on the 29th so plenty more eating, drinking and gift giving!

Mine hasn't even started start. We still have a tree full of gifts, plenty of alcohol and a Christmas dinner to get through! As well as a birthday cake/cupcakes and more drinks.

Then in 4 days we do the cake/cupcakes, alcohol, meal out and gift giving again (my birthday)

Still got work for the next few days. That will be busy as it's in retail and Christmas stuff needs to be removed at some point.

364 days of the year I agree with you, but on Christmas, it's dinner!

My Christmas Dinner was gorgeous, thanks Mam!

I never really got into Christmas this year so not overly bothered that it's over. Yes there are 12 days but as far as I'm concerned it ends tonight. I will have all packed away Tuesday latest

Yep, that's right. Dinner is the evening meal.

I know they used to call school lunch 'school dinners' which really bugged me

We had a disaster of a time at our lunch out - each course took over an hour to reach us and only did so after each complaint, so we left without paying the balance (we had paid 2/3rds as a deposit) - everybody was doing the same. Jr couldn't sit down any more after 3 hours, had to leave anyway! Saved me £30 though

ETA: Dinner in the dictionary: "the main meal of the day, usually the meal you eat in the evening but sometimes, in Britain, the meal eaten in the middle of the day".

If you eat a main meal twice a day, the one in the middle is lunch, the one in the evening is dinner

I feel quite mean complaining about the pub we ate at now, seeing as they did make somebody's Christmas special, even if it wasn't ours! http://www.bathchronicle.co.uk/pub-l...ail/story.html

It's definitely not over for us.

Tomorrow is basically Christmas Day 2.0, only without the presents and a more sedate evening meal (buffet-style). Then there's Hogmanay to look forward to next week.

Hogmanay / New Years is something I never really understood. It marks the end of the holiday season, back to work and hum drum, certainly not something to celebrate IMO

And after that it's back down to earth with a bump.
