It's over when the holiday period is over and television has gone back to normal as far as I'm concerned.
I've no time for killjoys who try to tell you Christmas is over as soon as the holiday period has barely begun.
It's like those people who like to piss you off by turning the channel over when a film has almost finished but not quite.

Still got loads of booze and nice food in. Will be feasting until New Year.

Roast beef and Yorkshires tomorrow and boozy sherry trifle for dessert. Football on the telly and a few beers and/or whiskys, vodkas, rums or glasses of wine and sweets and chocolate too. Then there's plenty of mince pies in, ice cream, crisps, nuts and Christmas cake as well.

ETA: Dinner in the dictionary: "the main meal of the day, usually the meal you eat in the evening but sometimes, in Britain, the meal eaten in the middle of the day".
Makes sense.

When I was at school in the late 60's and 70's, lunch just didn't exist, I can't remember anyone calling school dinners lunch.
It was Breakfast, Dinner, Tea. Same at Weekends.

Dinner early to mid afternoon, then tea about 6. Tea was the light meal that Is more like Lunch I guess.

Lunch sounds posh to me! lol - wrong I know, but have never used the word in my life!

Hogmanay / New Years is something I never really understood. It marks the end of the holiday season, back to work and hum drum, certainly not something to celebrate IMO
Taking that to it's logical conclusion, what's the point in celebrating Christmas? Or anything, ever?

Absolutely.

When I hear of people taking down their trees before New Year, I can't help but wonder why they bother in the first place. For me it's always been about the full 8 or 9 days.

It's a bit like taking drugs, the higher you go the further you fall so I just never go very high so never have far to fall.

It is not over until I have had my birthday tea with chocolate cake then passed out spilling a half empty glass of wine in my lap while watching the evening film.
^^^

This. But in my case that'll be tomorrow night.

I feel a little sad that people think Presents, Dinner, over.

Christmas breakfast. A walk on the beach. An "adult" coffee in my favourite coffee shop (who opens on Christmas Day especially for the walkers)

Home to watch the Queen's speech. Cook dinner for usually about half 5. Let dinner go down, relax in front of telly. Open presents in the evening.

Repeat the next day for my Birthday. Best time of year.

Its not even my usual tree.... I just bought a cheap little tabletop one from work, and added one box of small ornaments....

Well after all the hectic dashing today about we can spend the next couple of days just having a laze around - having just had all the family round today probably tomorrow tidying up, currently three bin bags full of wrapping paper, cracker debris and rubbish sat in the living room to be dealt with tomorrow and cans and bottles to sort out for recycling.

Nothing then until New Year when we go to visit families.

Yes NYE!

Christmas was really up and down this year for us. But very much looking forward to NYE, just a house party at a friends house - Champagne and board games

Why?

Can't say I have ever worked boxing day but is it not just another day
Because having a amazing day with family ..... Then bang back in work the next day.... hits you like a ton of bricks

Pretty crap Christmas for me. Filthy cold and an increasingly strange atmosphere at the relatives we've been staying with. To be honest I'll be glad when it's over.
