I always see Christmas Day as the start of Christmas, not the end.
In my opinion it should not be seen to be over until after New year's Day, and even then you can add one or two days if you feel like it.
You may as well make the most of it as it's only once a year.

I am so happy for people who enjoy Christmas and want it to go on for ages.

For me, it isn't a good time, so I'm glad when it's over.

We're all different.

Amen to that.

Vive la difference!

This year I didn't celebrate it so it didn't begin for me.

Nothing wrong with that at all - depends how much you have to celebrate I suppose.

I don't mean it in a depressing way or anything. I had a good Christmas Eve going round my old village and bumped into a few old faces. But on the day itself I got up at 2:30pm, ordered a pizza and watched a film. Same as any Sunday.

I see my family all the time anyway so don't feel the need to have to see them on Christmas. It's a good time to have a day off life!

We moved in here on the 20th and made the best of it,
but its a complete and total farce. Most shop workers have no choice but to be back in work either boxing day or the day after.

Tesco were actually removing everything Christmas eve. Ready for the sale items like duvets etc. And yep the Easter eggs are out today

You see all these people running about like the shops aren't going to be open for 6 days, Today in Tesco everything was back fully stocked with the staff there as miserable as sin. Best Christmas present was moving

None of that running around nonsense for me. I waited for it all to blow over and had a stroll to the supermarket this morning.

But yeah. I treated it like two normal days where I bought my food anyway.

Can totally see why.
If people actually stopped being fooled into thinking they need to spend thousands of pounds, It would help no end. They keep pushing the boundaries because they know everyone will fall for it.

I find Christmas exhausting, expensive and a bit fraught.

I'm happy it's gone well, all the family at Mum's today for the afternoon and it's over.

And I'm bloody GLAD it's over.

I'm doing JACK ALL tomorrow.

Both me and the Ancient P are happy about that.

It seems that once Boxing Day is out of the way, Christmas is done and dusted. Anything Christmassy just seems odd and out of place by the end of December.

Worth pointing out the irony of the fact that we are all bombared with Christmas imagery and indoctrination from early bloody November and then when the bloody thing arrives, it's now the trend to start packing away the whole damn thing on Boxing Day night, channels that dutifully converted to renaming themselves Sky Movies Christmas & Now Christmas, Christmas Movies 24 etc in early sodding November suddenly get into a desperate rush to shed themselves completely of Christmas on Boxing Day for god';s sake!

If we're going to be totally swamped with Christmas for almost a whole season of late Autumn into Winter at least let it stick around to actually be enjoyed for a decent length of time when it's actually here!

It's indicative of how sick of Christmas we must be because it's been around since the start of November that they can't wait to get it over and done with by only Boxing Day! But I want Christmas to be Christmas and November to be November and to enjoy Christmas during the 12 Days!

I agree and I guess I am guilty of jumping on the bandwagon to by having my decorations up at the start of December, I guess its almost like by having them up will make Christmas come quicker.

And then when the big day come everyone gives up on boxing day and its back to normality. As I said earlier I remember when Christmas used to last at least a week with most shops shut etc, now people can't wait to get it over and done with and back to work and I guess I see their point, its like hanging on at a new years party after midnight, you're flogging a dead horse.

Its sad to admit but Christmas isn't and probably never will be what it once was, its becoming more and more like Halloween where we have a build up for a couple of months in retail etc then it comes and the following day its back to normal, a 1 day event, the 12 days of Christmas are no more, we get the older folk who try to hang on to the tradition but its slowly getting edged out each and every year. I am just happy that my childhood celebrated the 12 days.

Christmas finishes on January 6th. Hasn't anyone heard of the twelve days of Christmas?

Speak for yourself. I'm not old, and I celebrate the 12 days of Christmas. So does my family.

I define old as 40+, the younger folk have less interest in the 12 days of Christmas.

Some of the younger folk can be blissfully ignorant.

January 5th, assuming you count December 25th as the first day.

Nope. It's January 6th. Count twelve days from the 25th. You get to the 6th.

You must have an extra finger!

25th = 1
:
31st = 7
1st = 8
:
5th = 12.

Jesus. 25th to 31st is 6 days. You need to learn to count. And google 12 days of Christmas. Find me an article that says it ends on January 5th and get back to me.
