I like Dot's cat. Better than boring old Phil and sharon! OMG Ethel Skinner. That's a lovely cat though. Dot's called him or her Ethel. Nice touch. Most soap Christmases are cringey to be honest. Corrie was good though.

No, I'm loving the way we're visiting everyone instead of being focused in 1 or 2 places

If you read all the other threads on this very subject you'll see that opinions are mixed.

I disagree. I quite enjoyed the episode. I was initially apprehensive when I heard that it was going to be light-hearted this year, so I was expecting something like last years Christmas Corrie. A load of annoying characters and no actual stories, but I was wrong I enjoyed it a lot. Some very funny one-liners, especially from Shirley and I really enjoyed Babe and Kathy tonight too.
The episode wasn't without drama too, with Phil's liver plot and Lees crime catching up with him. Loved the Skype messages from characters on a break such as Linda and Sonia, it added realism to the proceedings. It doesn't have to be murder anecdotal death every C christmas.
I hope 2017 is better for EE than the last half of 2016 though. The plot section carried over from the DTC era such as Denise's pregnancy, Lee's depression and Phil's dodgy liver will be ending soon, and the then the true work of SOC will be seen. Hoping the Hubbards, especially Vincent, get a big story.
One fault I have with the Christmas EE was Michelle Fowler though. Completely unnecessary casting and I hate the way she's been creeping around the square also, why did she's intrude on the mitchells at the hospital? She seems obsessed with Sharon.

Really enjoyed it, We were told it was going to be lowkey.

Then when It was announced Max Branning, was coming back on Christmas Day, it was almost like, people thought, he was gonna firebomb the Beales house or something, which was never gonna happen, as him doing that would mean he was going to have to leave again, he had just returned.

If anything Max seemed quite jolly, maybe he isn't out for revenge.

The rest of the episode was uplifting, lovely community feel, and everybody happy, I loved the fact They thought Derek was hitting on Patrick.

And Lees arrrest obviously has started the beginning of the end

I really liked the way Max's return was done. The arrival of the mysterious turkey, followed by the other 2 gifts, and then the simple "Hello, Stace" in the dark street was excellent.

I also found it ironic that he was coming back following a wrongful arrest just when Lee was claiming he'd been wrongfully arrested. I wonder if he'll go and visit Phil in hospital?
