Literally nothing happened, no story line, no issues, literally just watching people eat in a pub. Time for the BBC to do the honorable thing and cancel this deadbeat show under SOC.

Also why was it on so late like as if it needed to be past the watershed, this could have been on a 2pm like Doctors, which has more drama than Eastenders these days.

That's exactly why I enjoyed it, a normal christmas.

You didn't like it so it must be cancelled. Scrooge, is that you? Stop trolling.

I wanted to say that we could say that Mike facing Christmas alone, whilst Linda is looking after her mother (who has had a stroke) could be considered an issue, its one we have seen before, both recently and much better. I dont think Dot being by herself for alot of it could be considered an issue, even Abby who lives with her just up and left without considering her. (Derek similar)

Phils storyline continued, and whilst a liver transplant is a good issue based storyline, no one can believe Phil would ever get a donor organ. As for everything else I agree whilst nice to see everyone gathered together enjoying themselves, there was very little movement on any of the storylines.

Michelle is back true, but she is only dropping hints at the moment.

Diabolical episode.

Zero story progression.

An unnecessary amount of community spirit (which we've already been overfed with over recent weeks).

Continuity all over the place - example, the first time we see Linda in tonights ep following her Mum's stroke she is on the Skype equivalent, full to bursting of festive cheer.

Zero conflict/drama in the scenes.

Max's return a damp squib, as opposed to a steadily built powerful compelling climax.

This is what happens when you give xmas storylining duties to the equivalent of a floor runner with next to no life or story experience.

SO far below the expected dramatic execution on all fronts and SO frustrating to someone who genuinely loves the programme.

Why do people thrive so much on pain, misery, deaths, murders etc nowadays?

So just because you don't like it it should be cancelled even tough most people loved the change of pace for a Xmas episode - - surely the simple solution is for you to turn off and let those who enjoy it enjoy it - why should we suffer because you don't like it.

There was drama, just not over the top stuff that you are looking for. Not every Eastenders Christmas needs to be so ridiculously over the top.

Judging by the overwhelming level of tweets, most people disliked the episode as being a disappointment.

Yes it should be over the top, thats what people wait for all year during Christmas. For that major storyline and drama... god it was like watching paint dry.

For years viewers have moaned about OTT drama and everything kicking off at Christmas and wanting a happy Christmas for once and we finally got one with community spirit, humour and drama built in - great episode

I don't wait for it, i take it as it comes. I don't need every Christmas day episode to be so over the top.

I dont see that many people complain about it being OTT. I see overwhelming positive responses for most christmas episodes that are "OTT"

Actually not too much has happened in Christmas episodes, in DTC's run, it was always Boxing Day where the real drama happened

What about the millions of viewers who aren't on Twitter - did you ask them what they thought?
