First time I've seen this. Michael was brilliant, and I know Pavarotti was revered, but I'm really not a fan of Opera at all. It's just a whole load of squawking to me.

I feel like a philistine saying this but I just can't appreciate Opera either. I love George's voice and could listen to it all day but I'm awful glad he didn't attempt to do this one operatically!

George singing "Somebody to Love" was just incredible. He hit the notes just like Freddie did.

'Crossover' doesn't work for everyone but it can and has done for some. Jeff Lynne successfully fused classical into rock music and built a life long career on it making millions.

Others are more 'one off' and here is a memorable Operatic one that certainly did work. The percussion power is phenomenal, never mind the obvious vocals!

So how come George Michaels lifestyle killed him in the end. But Keith Richards and Eric Clapton are still alive

I'm not sure his lifestyle did as so far it's a heart attack with 'no suspicious circumstances'. I expect the precise cause of death will be reported after a Coroner has examined, but many people do simply die from a major heart attack.

Richards and Clapton have both been very lucky and i'm sure they know that. Both have cleaned themselves up no end, Clapton more so than Richards, but nobody is invincible.

Thousands of people died yesterday, some were older than 53 and some were younger.

Some people can drink like fish and smoke like a chimney all their lives and be a picture of health, whereas most will contract some sort of smoking/drinking related disease.

Use of hard drugs will for most cause some sort of psychiatric illness or organ damage whereas for a lucky few will have no lasting effect.

A small minority are able to abuse their bodies with little or no ill-effects.

Saw a pic of George Michael taken a few months ago (September I think) in a restaurant. He looked as if he'd put a lot of weight on, and to be honest, if I'd seen him in person, I'd never have recognised him.

To be fair, look at the likes of Keith Richards, Shane McGowan and Ozzy Osbourne who seem to have no idea where they are half the time and I think it's fair to say drug use has affected them even if it hasn't killed them!

Something is not right with this I went to bed early Xmas night and got a message at 11pm saying he had died and obviously thought that's a shock.

So got up and hear that he died peacefully in his sleep? So did he die in the afternoon or Xmas eve. Was he on his own on Xmas day?

I liked the bloke hated his music and could not care less about his sexuality but something is not right.

If they had said he died of a massive heart attack no problem but i think something is being coverd up people to pay off stuff to be taken away!

The newspapers tomorrow will be showing the last picture of George Michael that was ever taken. And at first i did not recognise him. He looks so bloated at he reminds me of Elivis just before he passed away. And i think Elvis also had Heart failure as well

Do you mean the last photo of him pictured eating out a restaurant - it was in today's newspapers.
In terms of weight - it looks very similar to the ones shot by papps who tracked him to the Swiss rehab/hotel, that was one and a half years ago. ( He had gone privately but felt he had to leave when he was papped.)

He had always been insecure about his looks and especially about weight. The last thing he would have wanted is to be plastered over the media - "George has put on 3 stone" - and that's what happened in 2015.
Wouldn't be surprised if that's why he even stopped walking his dogs in public and so made him more reclusive.
He was as sharp as a tack and could well imagine what people would be saying about him.

That's nice of them .... they can't just put decent posed pics up then? ... no .. they have to use candid shots. Bet they're rubbing their hands together with glee that the pics can be put to good use alongside sly insinuations masquerading as concern.

He probably just died in his sleep, his heart stopped. That happens to lots of people every year.
