Yeah, I just didn't want the grief from all the snowflakes who haven't got a sense of humour and feel the need to comment on everything.
It's not really about having a sense of humour or not, it's about having taste and being respectful.

It's quite a decent joke actually, considering he died at Christmas.
Its not, it's just disrespectful.

I'm 53 and was cynical of his early work at first. Then I grew up and realised he was a major player and I actually liked it.

I remember the Public and Tabloid storms over his 'problems' which only endeared him to me more.
Like you i wasn't a fan of the early stuff but from Faith onwards he just blossomed. Older was an excellent album.

It's a real shame for his fans.

As far as celebrities go I can only think of three which really bothered me - Christopher Lee, Freddie and Ali.

But Bowie gave me pause for thought as well.

Well that's where we disagree, and I have zero respect for Bob Geldof.

To be expected though as some can't contain themselves.

I like that his sexual indiscretions in the late 90s didn't end his career. He took it in good humour, made a load of money from it and it was soon forgotten.
I watched the episode of Extras last week in which he appears as himself, hanging around in the bushes on Hampstead Heath. Perfectly happy to take the piss out of himself, which is not a trait many celebrities have these days.

Yes we don't know. Only 53. The announcement says 'peacefully' rather than say 'suddenly' which sort of suggests he's been ill.
Just going off what they did say, 'peacefully' can be synonymous with 'while sleeping'. It could well have been sudden though. The fact that they didn't say it was sudden doesn't mean it wasn't, or whether he was ill or not.

Going to sleep and not waking up is a blessing. I suppose around one third of us will be so lucky.

Maybe the 'snowflakes' are actually people with an ounce of compassion, who realise the death of a fellow human shouldn't be mocked or laughed about, before the person is even cold?

Its not a joke is it? Is meerly a witticisms.

Its about having a crack at making a point, not taking the piss. And its really low hanging fruit.

So obvious, that most people are thinking it. Probably....

Careless Whisper - one of my favourite songs of all time.

This news is so so sad.

I loved the guy. He was just himself, truthful, frank and genuine.

Every time I hear that song I feel compelled to say to the nearest person, "Did you know he was only 17 years old when he wrote that song?" Pretty impressive for a child.

13.42 GMT means 13.42pm today, Sunday 25th December 2016!
Read the post again! 13.42 was the time the ambulance attended. What time he actually died we don't know.

Sad to hear this.

If i'm being honest I've spent more time listening to his music than Bowie or Prince's.

It was a funny episode like a few in that celeb series who didn't appear to take themselves seriously as you say. The Ross Kemp one was fantastic also.

Me too.

Bloody hell I haven't had the news/internet on and thought the thread title was one of those fake things.

Well the Big Man has obviously decided to make his fantasy dinner party a reality this year. It's just a shame he's got decent taste in music and wasn't a fan of Bieber.

Notice how that one saxaphone riff, by changing the speed of it can transcends multiple styles

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kas6akz1jWU

Normal speed: Slow dance
1.25x: Disco
1.5x Salsa
2x Funk

Doubtful he'd lain in bed at home for over thirteen and a half hours without one person calling him, especially being Christmas day too. The poster i replied to suggested he may have died last night, the 24th.

Also remember him sending himself up in the Catherine Tate show and performing 'Fairytale of New York' in a sketch with her as the dopey Irish nurse, Bernadette. He was of my era, the Eighties (plus) and this is obviously so sad.

I can't think there is anyone who doesn't think this year has been freaky for untimely iconic celebrity deaths. Ok, some not totally unexpected but several of them took us by surprise. Victoria Wood was my biggest (personal) shock.

R.I.P., George and thanks for some cracking music.

They really didn't. Someone could have thought "you know what, it's a bit tacky so maybe i'll leave it".

Instead someone was desperate for the "honour" of being first, so someone decided to dream up some bullshit excuse for their attention seeking.
