I watched the episode of Extras last week in which he appears as himself, hanging around in the bushes on Hampstead Heath. Perfectly happy to take the piss out of himself, which is not a trait many celebrities have these days.

Just going off what they did say, 'peacefully' can be synonymous with 'while sleeping'. It could well have been sudden though. The fact that they didn't say it was sudden doesn't mean it wasn't, or whether he was ill or not.

Going to sleep and not waking up is a blessing. I suppose around one third of us will be so lucky.

I can't think there is anyone who doesn't think this year has been freaky for untimely iconic celebrity deaths. Ok, some not totally unexpected but several of them took us by surprise. Victoria Wood was my biggest (personal) shock.
