Yes well it seems a lot is getting lost here in hair splitting postings! Obviously his family come first, then the media. Crikey i wasn't expecting to have to write an essay and now i see it's even brought out a Monroe CT'er! He died on 25th December 2016. Exact time as yet is unknown.

If death had occurred 24 hours prior then the news would have broke long ago.
Neither of the bits in bold are necessarily true though. That's hardly splitting hairs!

After looking for the Freddie Mercury tribute he did ("Somebody to Love"), i found this clip as well where he's in rehearsal. Does the entire song in one take. Faultless.

That's a great clip thanks for that. Mr Bowie enjoying that performance too

This also reminds me that George Michael was a pioneer of the 'designer stubble' look in the 1980s/90s
Lol yes thats true. Fashionable then.

I also like how he makes the song his own rather than just a tribute act
I don't know. When i first heard him sing it i thought how close his vocals were to Mercury's. I know most Karaoke fans go for "Don't Let the Sun etc" which is still a cracking song, but for me "Somebody to Love" was one of his best performances and as another poster commented, 'he nailed it'.

Don't fret over it. You will soon have the full Coroners report. Would you like it mailed direct?

Apparently yes though i didn't see him. I just thought it a pretty good rehearsal. Whole song in one take, not a note dropped, spot on.

Did you ever see the unplugged gig his voice was just great in that so clean.

You have been loved

He's in the background (wearing sort of beige colours) when the camera is shooting from George's left, Seal is in silhouette next to him

Yes he could definitely sing. Good that he was able to get rid of his silly Wham days and show what he was really capable of.

Ha ha a Monroe CT'er. Far from it, I was just writing what I read from wiki.

Don't know if it's the copious amount of alcohol or the shock of the news but in tears on the drive home listening to some of his songs on the radio.
I'm hoping you were not driving, but being driven.

Bloody hell, that's come as a shock.

After this year, I'm starting to wonder if talent reduces longevity.

Just so sorry for his family. He is one year older than me so very sobering news.

George was part of my youth as was David Bowie and Prince, so many memories wrapped up in their music. Add in Andrew Sachs in Fawlty Towers, Victoria Wood in Acorn Antiques, Caroline Aherne in The Royale Family, Alan Rickman in just about every film he did and it feels like this year has a personal vendetta against me and the creative people who have made me happy over the years.

Hang your head in shame 2016. Enough now.

I don't actually think that Wham were his "Silly days"

His fame was the foundation that he formed with Andrew Ridgeley. Wham were hugely successful.

Totally agree. IMO the bar for music isn't whether it is always the best in terms of musical composition or how deep and meaningful the lyrics are, it's whether it touches you and means something at a point in your life and gives you memories that take you back to the moment within the first few bars of the song. For me Wham did that - my first serious relationship breakdown played out to Careless Whisper, my first holiday abroad all you heard in the bars was Wake Me Up and my first fantastic Xmas living away from home we played Last Christmas on vinyl continually on the crap record player we had in our flat.

I always thought he had an underrated voice. I would hear people say he was a good artist, but his voice was great imo and didn't receive enough recognition.

Rip. Way too young

The lifestyles and pressures etc., that go along side with some of these great talents certainly appears to reduce their longevity in some cases.

I also tend to think their legacy lives on a lot longer when they die young too for some reason.

RIP. George x

I disliked Wham in school - cheesy pop nonsense and I was into all sorts of way "cooler" stuff for years more fitting for students like the Pixies, The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Became more and more of a soulboy. Did quite like Fastlove, but more because the Patrice Rushen sample in it. Knew he had a great voice, but still thought he was bland.

A few years ago I was in my local Co-op in Cardiff and Freedom (the Wham one) came on. I was a soul DJ by then and it floored me. I thought if this was by The Supremes and had more of a 60s production it'd be a classic and cool as hell. All the purist soul aficionados would be dancing to it.

Dunno why, but I just love the bridge (the bit with "you could take me to hell and back.....").

I hated Careless Whisper. Hated it. Became a guitar teacher and for some reason worked out a Spanish guitar version of it one day. Was gobsmacked - gorgeous song!

I was very wrong!

Sad news.

George Michael dead now! Crikey what a year!

Said on news 'no suspicious circumstances'.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38432862
Heard on BBC telly, then later on they said he died of no suspicious circumstances like you said, makes me wonder all the same, as he was only 53! Poor ole Micheal with the rough times he's had, but R.I.P to him Other shock was the Red Army Choir killed. . R.I.P to them. if you don't mind me adding that in here.
