He had a complicated life, but thank you George for the music of my teens.

It was the first thing I read this morning after logging on to Facebook. I suspected it was a hoax at first. I checked on Google and, lo and behold, there it was all over the news sites.

Celebrity deaths happen every year but 2016 has seen a particularly high number of the big name celebs leave this world behind.

I can't say I was a fan but I am saddened to hear of his passing.

I can't believe that he's died. He was so well known. Talk about a shock.

Many do. Could have been congenital heart disease etc...

I have to say I'm shocked. I received a message last night from a friend with a link, I took no notice of it as I assumed it was fake.

WTF??
The other 152,000 people who died yesterday weren't well known so we're OK about that.

Also worth mentioning that Wham were one off the first (the first?) Western pop group to have a concert in China in the 1980s when it was starting to open up from the closed-off Mao era. It was quite a culturo-political landmark.

Bit lost for words here, but bloody hell.

I, I was in shock about that. Where did I say that I was okay with unknown people dying? Anyway, I'm not getting into a heated discussion with you because I can't be bothered.

Why do some people always fail to appreciate that the death one person who touched the lives of so many people *is* more significant than the death of complete strangers?

Agreed. Of course the death of a major celebrity it's going to affect more people than the death of someone they've never heard of.

Drink, drugs depression, probably AIDS. Not a great combination for good health. Went into a spiral of self-destruction after the untimely death of his mother.

Such a talent,such a loss so many top songs ,gutted he won't release any more music he's songs have been there since I was a young boy me and my sister dancing around to top of the pops me thinking I was George my sister pepsi ,good times ,Rip George you have been loved

Yep. Wham! were dance floor fillers in the 80's and he did some pretty decent songs when he went solo after parting from Andrew Ridgeley.

Oh yes. Must be Aids because he was gay...........

I really liked a lot of his music. He was a great talent.

From all accounts he was a very kind and generous man too.
