Literally no build up, or drama... was quite boring. The only saving grace was the occasional comedic one liners.

It doesnt even feel like Eastenders anymore

It felt like proper old EE to me, more so with the Panio and sing-song bit.

I think tomorrow Dot's pussy starts a fire in Aunt Babe's kitchen, with ,massive explosion set to happen...

Don't see what the problem is, it was a enjoyable episode, did it set the world on fire no, but is was far from the worse xmas episode ever, best we've had since 2013.

Yeah one of the most boring episodes. Although it was refreshing to see people actually enjoying themselves for once! Lol

I feel like people on this forum are out of touch tbh... twitter is literally bombarded with negative tweets about Eastenders, most of which are "top tweets". I am glad I am in the majority

Giving the cliffhanger(not that out actually was one) away in your trailer, really says how bad it was.

Most people on here liked it but you still claim majority - I'd say twitter is more out of touch

The worst one is definately that one where Max's random wife Kirsty turned up on the doorstep.

Twitter is actually far more in touch. That is not even going by the numbers of retweets or favourites. Even on the official EE twitter account, 99% of the tweets are negative, and im not even exaggerating.

Digital Spy has been notorious for being out of touch tbh

Yep, totally agree. To think that 10 years ago we had the death of Pauline Fowler, and 9 years ago we had the amazing Stax reveal, 8 years ago we had the baby reveal, 7 years ago we had Archie dying...

twitter is not the be all and end all - the cheap rags may give that impression with their lazy journalism and not indicative of the national consensus.

No but when nearly every reply from the EE page is negative, then it says a lot.

It was an episode that could have been from the good old days of the 80's. The problem nowadays is that a lot of new viewers have no clue of EE in the past and gave been accustomed to the DTC era and social media responses.

Makes sense. 80% of DS is over 40. 80% of Twitter is under 40.

I don't really understand why people do not think it is indicative of the viewers opinions.
I actually use Facebook to gauge public opinion, you get a large variety of young/old, and long term fans along with short term fans.
Its been the past month or so the negative comments have just been awash all over the FB page constantly on nearly every post and after each episode.
This was not happening during DTC's era. The most i saw was the moaning about the dragging of the Lucy Beale story.
This forum notoriously mostly watch EE, so i think people will defend it no matter what.
It was not a great episode but i managed to sit through it without looking at my phone too much and i wasnt slipping into a coma like i have been the past few weeks episodes so that atleast tells me theres some improvement
I actually really like the ''new character'' Michelle, but she just is not Michelle to me, I feel like shes a completely new person, i wish that actress had been cast in a different role.

Anyway talking about social media, Roxy/Ronnie have some hardcore fans on there, just wait till the Mitchell sisters are killed off, then the shit really will hit the fan

I am on the cusp of the age range. Personally I really enjoyed EE tonight. I use Twitter but am not a slave to its collective opinion.

Holy f*ck, Archie's death was 7 years ago?! Wow

Personally I thought the EPISODE was good, but the 'cliffhanger' was absolutely dire, I was fully expecting another scene after Max, with something like Sharon hearing Phil's died. I think the trailer was completely inappropriate, with stupid scenes like Billy about to tell Sharon Phil was dead, clearly added in just for the trailer.

Regards nuMichelle, I like how she doesn't quite feel like Michelle. Obviously the new actress needs time to bed in but for now it feels a bit how Michelle herself would probably feel. She's come back to this place she grew up in, where her family ties are and yet she doesn't quite fit in any more. She's like a fish out of water. Kathy was the same for some time.

If that was a random episode on a tuesday night say mid august, i'd say it was an ok episode but for christmas days that is know where near good enough, all this community feel bollocks im used to christmas day eastenders hard hitting drama with climaxes to big storylines, now i have to say new year trailer looks good but still christmas should be better than that, i didnt like dtc in the end up but i'd rather him than this SOC who's idea of excitement is derek playing the piano.

Couldnt agree more. It felt like a filler episode to me. I usually look forward to xmas EE episodes, but since the beginning of December, there was no real build up. It was all so underwhelming
