Favourite song... Too many to choose from.

However, Listen Without Prejudice would undoubtedly be my favourite album with both Songs from the Last Century and Older in joint 2nd place. His voice was so versatile and he didn't disappoint as a live performer. His takes on classics including Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?, Secret Love and Where or When are just a few I've been listening to.

I don't know what people's favourite songs of George was?

I love: "Faith",
His collaboration with Aretha Franklin " I knew you Were Waiting"
"Wake me up before you go go"
"Outside"
"Don't let the Sun go Down on Me" with Elton John. I say with Elton John, because although I know this is Elton's song, George fits this song like a snug glove.
"Careless Whisper"
"Everything she Wants"

Really, I could could go on and on.

Can't believe it.
There are several songs. Too many to mention in fact. I can't believe it either.

I almost dropped my phone when the news alert about this came through. This has hit me much harder than Prince's death. George Michael is a legend IMO- a genuine genius. I'm so sad & shocked. May he RIP.

Jesus to a child and spin the wheel, with fastlove coming very close.

As with Mary J Blige and Outside.

Wake me up and Last Christmas.

I know what you mean. Although Prince's death shocked me, the 80's, with George Michael with Wham and himself as a solo artist was my era.

Hard to pick favourites but some of mine are Cowboys and Angels (beautiful song), Waiting For That Day, Spinning The Wheel, Freeeek. I also have a soft spot for Outside as he sh*t on everyone who thought he'd be apologetic about his sexuality and he wasn't. It was his 'middle finger moment', as I like to call it.

I have been listening to George constantly over the past few weeks and rewatching all his videos. He's been my idol for 34 years. I'm in total shock right now.

A Different Corner was one he did so well live and it is astonishing in some ways how his voice held up so well over the years: the same can't be said for a lot of his contemporaries.

There are two songs someone else could've written about me. Fast Love is one of them.

Might be 20 years old now but still sounds great today as it did back then.

I played that over and over at the time. I went on holiday to Gran Canaria in late September 1996 and took a dubbed copy of the Older album along with a few other cassettes, which I may as well have left at home because I kept going back to the Older album. Fastlove got the most plays. Whenever I've listened to Fastlove since I'm immediately taken back to that holiday.

Devastated. Of my top 10 artists of all time, four (Bowie, Prince, Pete Burns and now George) have all died within a year. He was such an incredible talent as performer; musician; songwriter. He had a way with lyrics of being narrator to my growing up and experience in relationships for so long and with acute clarity.

Kissing A Fool
Fastlove
Too Funky
One More Try
Freedom '90
Edge of Heaven
Freeek!
I Want Your Sex
Cowboys & Angels
Older
Jesus To A Child
I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)
Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go
Wrap Her Up
A Different Corner
Club Tropicana
Praying For Time
Careless Whisper
I'm Your Man
Bad Boys
Everything She Wants
Outside
Father Figure
Last Christmas

are all favourites. One of his more recent efforts ('Precious Box') is an overlooked work of genius.

He also had an excellent ear for covers and his own versions as good as if not better than the originals:

Tonight
Song to the Siren
I Can't Make You Love Me
Killer / Papa Was A Rolling Stone
Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
Somebody To Love
Jive Talkin'
As

The man was simply a musical genius with very few peers and one of the biggest male music artists this country has ever produced. RiP George.

I've never been a fan. but I'm shocked by the news as his music has been about since my teenage years and I'm only 2 years younger than him. It's been a very poor year and a bit with music stars I grew up listening too dying, starting with Lemmy and Phil from Motorhead last December, then Bowie, Prince, Greg Lake, Rick Parfitt and now George Michael

Seems so weird, literally 24 hours ago, to the minute I was sitting here listening to 'Too Funky' and now I'm sitting listening to 'Older'. Such a sad end to Christmas Day.

Such an amazing talent, I always hoped there would be another 'Listen without Prejudice/Older' classic album around the corner, sadly it will never be the case. Being honest, I was never into the whole eighties 'Faith' thing, but his 90s albums will always be part of the memories of my teenage years.

So very, very sad. RIP George, gone far too soon.

I usually hate posts which quote long posts but I really had to do so in this case.

I totally loved George and his music. He was a genius and helped me through many a difficult time with his songs. I am devastated - beyond bereft.

I have had many a personal loss but this is the first 'celebrity ' death which has devastated me. RIP George - I hope that you now find the peace that I don't believe that you found in this life.

RIP.

He defined that concert

He also blew Elton away on Eltons own song. Dude was a maverick

it was a classic, heard it Saturday and I have just woken up, what a terrible start to Boxing day

What a tragedy, its been a few hours and im still in shock over the news

Im so glad i had the chance to see him live on his 2008 world tour with a front row floor seat.

Make it Big was the 1st cd i ever bought in early 1985, cd were still pretty new and rather expensive back then.

So many great songs Careless whisper will always be my favorite with the best sax solo ever written.

Freedom 90 one the coolest video of all time

Last Christmas so many timeless classics

He was also the main inspiration to my "teen idol" and all time favorite singer Debbie Gibson.

For those who know her she just wrote a pretty moving blog entry on her website about his passing

There are only ever two songs I feel I can fully relate to-as if someone had written them about me. One of them is 'Fast Love'. Am really shocked at George's passing; only yesterday morning I was listening to Last Christmas/Everything She Wants on the 7" vinyl I purchased last week. Towards the end of Everything She Wants the needle started to jump; thinking back just now... it's un-nerved me.

This song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6r5Dhqaay4E (One More Try) is another absolute favourite of mine. I didn't know of the song until Beverley Knight covered it on her Soul UK album a few years ago.

Used to sing Young Guns (Go For It!) in my after-school job with some of the other people I worked with; they even used to joke that I resembled a young George Michael.

When I saw he'd been planning on releasing some new material in 2017 I was looking forward to seeing what he'd come up with-I guess we'll never know now
I see that you were actually born the very day after Wham's Last Christmas/Everything She Wants shot straight into the charts at No2 (behind Band Aid) to become the biggest selling No2 single of all time, a chart and sales statistic that remains to this very day.

When Wham were making their debut on BBC4's Top Of The Pops 1982 in the previous few days it made me think a lot about George Michael and wondering about how he was doing generally at the moment, including his mental and physical health. To hear such devastating news and on Christmas night of all nights has been a jaw droppingly bad experience and I normally take things on the chin.

I actually think that I am going insane

I am in total shock..I really can't believe that he is gone.

I loved the bones of this man - he got me through so many tough times with his music.

I know full well that he had his flaws and made many mistakes but hell - he could sing and write a tune.

George, RIP- I will never forget you. Your music inspired me. I can't believe that you're gone. Be happy.xx
