Smooth are non-stop George with Martin Collins, which is rather apt as he played all of George's slow tempo love songs on Capital's Mellow Madness.

The midnight news bulletin was about George, then straight into Careless Whisper.

Suppose it's easy for LBC to grab a copy, as they share with a few music stations

Smooth used a cut from an LBC interview with George from 2012.

Such a terrible terrible loss.

Radio 2 will have to interupt their pre recorded marathon this year, surely??

When's the next live programme on air? the 28th??

They played Careless Whisper earlier in the hour when I tuned in. They are live now.

Normal playlist on Wave 105. Can they not remotely adjust music from another location, although it's probably a local decision to do that.

Capital seem to be posting tributes. Any chance of Wake Me Up on their network throughout tomorrow?

On Christmas Eve I was listening to Pick of the Pops with Paul Gambaccini on BBC Radio 2, Mum and I went to pick family up from the train station and after getting back in the car we had the rest of 1985 on from around 3.30pm and heard Wham - Last Christmas and later on I'm Your Man.

On getting home I looked at the News on my phone to see the sad passing of Rick Parfitt of Status Quo, now just a day later and who would have thought that George Micheal would now be sadly not with us.

I also listened to and recorded The Official Chart on BBC Radio 1 with Greg James on Friday, the Christmas Top 40 in which Last Christmas also charted.

I bet all radio stations stopped playing Christmas music and switched to George Michael instead.

"heal this pain" "flawless" "careless whisper" "the edge of heaven" "freedom" and "don't let the sun go down on me" are getting played on Capital as a tribute to the late great George Michael.

Kind of fitting that the taxi I got back home from mam's yesterday was playing Last Christmas.

There was a special Virtual Jukebox on Five Live tonight, "Best George Michael track". They went with Pray for Time.

I've only listened to some of the show, but she seems to be pretty much ignoring his death.

Capital last night played "A Different Corner" as they got the story, possibly around 11:45pm. Straight after the Global News with Georges story as the only item - at midnight they played another, I can't remember which one - it could have been Careless Whisper....

Has anyone played Wake Me Up yet?

Would have thought it was slightly inappropriate?

Bit of a ridiculous overkill on Radio 2's part. Paddy O'Connell asking people to contact them with their memories etc. Yes, George Michael was a major artist in the 80s and early 90s, but the fact is that he hasn't made a song that most people cared about for over 20 years. It's very sad for his family and friends, but the for most of the rest us, we just heard the news, thought 'oh that's sad' and got on with our day.

When Frank Sinatra died in 1998, arguably an even more significant artist for the Radio Two of that time, it was commented on in the media how Radio Two dealt with it with restraint and without overkill, simply playing a Sinatra track at the top of every hour. Why make this a bigger deal now?

Leona Graham has updated her VT links for Absolute 80s and they're doing non-stop George Michael and Wham! at 7pm.
